O Worship The King © 2004 Chris Tomlin /worshiptogether. com songsSix Steps Music (Admin. by EMI Christian Music Publishing) CCLI #606984
O worship the King All glorious above And gratefully sing His wonderful love
Our Shield and Defender The Ancient of Days Pavilioned in splendor And girded with praise
O tell of His might O sing of His grace Whose robe is the light Whose canopy space
His chariots of wrath The deep thunderclouds form And dark is His path On the wings of the storm
Thy bountiful care What tongue can recite It breathes in the air It shines in the light
It streams from the hills It descends to the plain And sweetly distills In the dew and the rain
Frail children of dust And feeble as frail In Thee do we trust Nor find Thee to fail
Thy mercies how tender How firm to the end Our Maker Defender Redeemer and Friend CCLI #606984
#33 To God Be the Glory CCLI# 606984
To God be the glory Great things He hath done So loved He the world That He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life An atonement for sin And opened the lifegate That all may go in
Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son And give Him the glory Great things He hath done
O perfect redemption The purchase of blood To every believer The promise of God
The vilest offender Who truly believes That moment from Jesus A pardon receives
Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son And give Him the glory Great things He hath done
Great things He hath taught us Great things He hath done And great our rejoicing Through Jesus the Son
But purer and higher And greater will be Our wonder, our victory When Jesus we see
Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father Through Jesus the Son And give Him the glory Great things He hath done

Take Refuge Nahum 1: 1– 8
The oracle of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. 2 A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; The LORD is avenging and wrathful. The LORD takes vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies.
3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet. 4 He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; He dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither; The blossoms of Lebanon wither.
5 Mountains quake because of Him And the hills dissolve; Indeed the earth is upheaved by His presence, The world and all the inhabitants in it. 6 Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire And the rocks are broken up by Him.
7 The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble, And He knows those who take refuge in Him. 8 But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.
Like Obadiah, Nahum is hope for the people of God facing an imposing enemy in every generation.
When tempted to surrender to the already-defeated enemy, we must focus on the full character and capacity of God (vv. 2– 6), and we must take refuge in our good God (vv. 7– 8).
1) We must focus on the full character and capacity of God (vv. 2– 6).
God is jealous.
There is nothing in the universe as God-centered as God.
God is avenger.
“Wrath is the holy reaction of a holy God to sin” (Baker, 27).
God is slow to anger.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3: 9
God is great in power.
We must not assume God’s patience means He is impotent. We must not mistake what seems like a delay in God’s judgment against sin for indifference toward our sin.
How powerful is Yahweh?
To begin to conceive of His greatness, we have to think of the largest, most majestic, and most terrifying elements of creation as just the side-effects of His presence (v. 3).
“As a man goes upon the dust, so Jehovah goes upon the clouds. ” (K-D, 10).
Yahweh can reverse the effects of creation (4).
He can destroy what He created (5).
Yahweh’s anger will come against His enemies.
2) We must take refuge in our good God (7– 8).
The Lord is good (v. 7) -- God's wrath against His enemies does not undermine His goodness but confirms it!
“In the manifestation of His wrath, God proves his goodness; for the judgment, by exterminating the wicked, brings deliverance of the righteous who trust in the Lord” (K-D, 11).

Lord of all creation Of water, earth, and sky The heavens are Your tabernacle Glory to the Lord on high
God of wonders beyond our galaxy You are holy The universe declares Your majesty You are holy Lord of heaven and earth
Early in the morning I will celebrate the light When I stumble in the darkness I will call Your name by night

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light my strength my song This cornerstone this solid ground Firm through the fiercest Drought and storm
What heights of love What depths of peace When fears are stilled When strivings cease My comforter my all in all Here in the love of Christ I stand
In Christ alone Who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For ev’ry sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live
There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious Blood of Christ
On Christ the solid Rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand
No guilt in life no fear in death This is the pow’r of Christ in me From life’s first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny
No pow’r of hell no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand ‘Til He returns or calls me home Here in the pow’r of Christ I’ll stand

Lord I come - I confess Bowing here I find my rest And without You I fall apart You're the one that guides my heart
Lord I need You – oh, I need You Every hour I need You My one defense my righteousness Oh God how I need You
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more Where grace is found is where You are And where You are Lord I am free Holiness is Christ in me Where You are Lord I am free Holiness is Christ in me
So teach my song to rise to You When temptation comes my way And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You Jesus You're my hope and stay
