WINNING THE BATTLE FOR YOUR PEACE “FREEING YOUR MIND”
In the Bible, “Peace” means completeness, wholeness, and an inner resting of the soul that never changes despite what else is going on. 2 Thessalonians 3: 16. 16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. Colossians 3: 15. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
OUR PEACE IS IN JESUS BECAUSE WE ARE IN JESUS A. PEACE THROUGH THE CROSS Rom. 5: 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. . . B. PEACE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT- Rom. 14: 17. . . for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
II. OUR PEACE IN JESUS ALLOWS US TO LEAVE ALL IN GOD’S HANDS Ps. 37: 5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. Prov. 3: 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. . . Isa. 26: 4 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.
B. LEAVING ALL IN GOD’S HANDS 1. Focus on God. Fix your mind on God and do not meditate on your problem. 2. Trust God’s righteousness. He’s never wrong. He’s never late. He’s never failed. 3. Meditate on the Scriptures. Ps. 119: 165 Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.
FREEING YOUR MIND 2 Corinthians 10 -. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; ) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; NOTE: The change of life does not happen by changing your life, It takes places by changing your mind.
FREEING YOUR MIND Romans 12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
TWO MINDSETS Romans 8: 5 for those who are living according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh [which gratify the body], but those who are living according to the Spirit, [set their minds on] the things of the Spirit [His will and purpose]. 6 Now the mind of the flesh is death [both now and forever—because it pursues sin]; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace [the spiritual well-being that comes from walking with God—both now and forever];
TWO MINDSETS Romans 7 the mind of the flesh [with its sinful pursuits] is actively hostile to God. It does not submit itself to God’s law, since it cannot, 8 and those who are in the flesh [living a life that caters to sinful appetites and impulses] cannot please God. Two types of mindset – flesh-destructive or spiritual -life and peace.
FLESH AND SPIRIT EXAMPLE Luke 5: 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch. ” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. ” 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
FREEING MY MIND 2 Corinthians 10 -. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; ) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
FREEING MY MIND Filtering what goes into my mindset. Proverbs 24; 3 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Fight what already in your mind – Colossians 3: 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Focus your mind- Isaiah 26: 3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
