The Story of Major Takur Delft Singh "Hero of Haifa" Professor Yitzhak Kronzon is a former Haifa surgeon who lives in New York. Visited in 1993 as part of a professional conference in the city of Zukpur in India. During the conference he lived in a luxurious hotel that was once the palace of Raja who ruled the place. Prof Yitzhak Krynzon noticed on the fireplace in the lobby the statue of an Indian soldier with the inscription "Hero of Haifa" Yitzhak became interested in the subject. After contacting the Museum in England he received many documents on the subject In April 1993, he wrote a comprehensive article about the hero of the Indian Haifa who fought in Palestine with the British Years later, the article came to Yigal Greiber, a member of the Haifa History Society. At the end of August 2009, Greiber contacted the Indian Attache Agai Ratur and asked him to look into the matter and provide documents from the Indian army. In 2010, Yigal Greiber received an answer from the attache that there was much material on the subject and that he transferred the material to Colonel MS Jude, grandson of Joda, who fought in the battle for Haifa, replacing Major Dalapet Singh, the company commander in the Ramat Gan Brigade when he was killed. And received a certificate of excellence. Major Dalapet Singh was killed on 23 September 1918. In battle he received the hero of Haifa. The Indian Army sees battle as a very important part and a milestone in its battle legacy. In Mumbai, many years ago a monument was erected for the hero of Haifa in a very respectable place near the home of Nero, the former prime minister of India who was a student of Gandhi who was murdered. Every year, on 23 September, an impressive ceremony is held in memory of "Hero of Haifa" with the participation of the same battalion that fought in Haifa, the cavalry battalion Jodhpur. The battalion fought in Europe as part of the British army during the First World War and in fact the soldiers were away from home for more than five years.

India sought to hold the first ceremony in Israel within three weeks, in order to meet the date on which they commemorate each year in India. Yigal Greiber, assisted by the Municipality of Haifa and the Embassy of India, organized the first ceremony at the British military cemetery in Haifa. With the participation of a representative of the Ministry of Defense, Mr. Amos Gilad, an Indian honor guard, representatives of the British army, an Indian honor guard, and guests The story of the Indians entering Haifa. (See picture on left) Quote from: Memories of Ora and Yitzhak Michaelson. 1982 Self-published Ora was eight when she saw the Indians enter Haifa. She described in her memoirs what she remembered as a child. (Not historical facts) I remember the day when the English entered Haifa. First, Indian soldiers entered their horses in their traditional garb and tried with their hands. Everyone who looked like a Turkish soldier was stabbed. Then the other troops entered. The Turks with only two guns stationed on Mount Carmel, that's all they had left, managed to stop the British entry into Haifa for a few days. The British occupiers organized a parade in the German Colony. A few cars, Bikes, cannons and what wealth. We pondered how two poor cannons could have stopped this great war machine from occupying Haifa for only a few days. I remember a Turkish soldier who ran into our house and asked us for civilian clothes. The street was full of casualties but the population was happy. Many suffered from Ottoman rule. The Jewish Legion in the British Army began to divide jam and Boxes of meat and we enjoyed it.
