(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.
SONG ‘God so loved’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: All your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself.
May we walk this day in the way of the cross, All and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 64 (Good News Translation)
I am in trouble, God—listen to my prayer! I am afraid of my enemies—save my life! 2 Protect me from the plots of the wicked, from mobs of evil people.
3 They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like arrows. 4 They are quick to spread their shameless lies; they destroy good people with cowardly slander.
5 They encourage each other in their evil plots; they talk about where they will place their traps. “No one can see them, ” they say.
6 They make evil plans and say, “We have planned a perfect crime. ” The human heart and mind are a mystery.
7 But God shoots his arrows at them, and suddenly they are wounded. 8 He will destroy them because of those words; all who see them will shake their heads.
9 They will all be afraid; they will think about what God has done and tell about his deeds.
10 All righteous people will rejoice because of what the LORD has done.
They will find safety in him; all good people will praise him.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Cut through the malice of our hearts, saving God, with the Spirit’s sword, wound the pride of our rebellion with the grace that makes righteous and bring near the day of Christ, when love shall reign in joy; for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever. Amen.

37 It was the last and most important day of the feast. Jesus stood up and spoke in a loud voice. He said, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Does anyone believe in me? Then, just as Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from inside them. ” 39 When he said this, he meant the Holy Spirit. Those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit later. Up to that time, the Spirit had not been given. This was because Jesus had not yet received glory. 40 The people heard his words. Some of them said, “This man must be the Prophet we’ve been expecting. ” 41 Others said, “He is the Messiah. ” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Doesn’t Scripture say that the Messiah will come from the family line of David? Doesn’t it say that he will come from Bethlehem, the town where David lived? ” 43 So the people did not agree about who Jesus was. 44 Some wanted to arrest him. But no one laid a hand on him. (John 7. 37 -43; NIr. V)
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. We preach Christ crucified, the power of God and the wisdom of God, All God forbid that we should glorify, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
(Time of quiet adoration)
CANTICLE Luke 1. 68 -69 (Good News Translation) The word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing; but to those who are being saved, it is the power of God.
“Let us praise the Lord, the God of Israel! He has come to the help of his people and has set them free. He has provided for us a mighty Saviour, a descendant of his servant David.
He promised through his holy prophets long ago that he would save us from our enemies, from the power of all those who hate us.
He said he would show mercy to our ancestors and remember his sacred covenant.
With a solemn oath to our ancestor Abraham he promised to rescue us from our enemies and allow us to serve him without fear, so that we might be holy and righteous before him all the days of our life.
You, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High God. You will go ahead of the Lord to prepare his road for him, to tell his people that they will be saved by having their sins forgiven.
Our God is merciful and tender. He will cause the bright dawn of salvation to rise on us and to shine from heaven on all those who live in the dark shadow of death, to guide our steps into the path of peace.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
The word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing; but to those who are being saved, it is the power of God.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For the mission of the Church: give her that, in faithful witness, she may preach the Gospel to the end of the world.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All True and humble King, hailed by the crows as Messiah: grant us the faith to know you and love you, that we may be found beside you on the way of the cross, which is the path of glory. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘Reckless Love’
