LENT Week 5 MONDAY MORNING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.

Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: All your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself.

May we walk this day in the way of the cross, All and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 44 part 1 (Good News Translation)

With our own ears we have heard it, O God— our ancestors have told us about it, about the great things you did in their time, in the days of long ago:

2 how yourself drove out the heathen and established your people in their land; how you punished the other nations and caused your own to prosper.

3 Your people did not conquer the land with their swords; they did not win it by their own power;

It was by your power and your strength, by the assurance of your presence, which showed that you loved them.

4 You are my king and my God; you give victory to your people, 5 and by your power we defeat our enemies. 6 I do not trust in my bow or in my sword to save me;

7 but you have saved us from our enemies and defeated those who hate us. 8 We will always praise you and give thanks to you forever.

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

In the darkness of unknowing, when your love seems absent, draw near to us, O God, in Christ forsaken, in Christ risen, our Redeemer and our Lord. Amen.

31 His disciples were saying to him, “Rabbi, eat something!” 32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about. ” 33 Then his disciples asked each other, “Did someone bring him food? ” 34 Jesus said, “My food is to do what my Father sent me to do. My food is to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying? You say, ‘It’s still four months until harvest time. ’ But I tell you, open your eyes! Look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest right now. 36 Even now the one who gathers the crop is getting paid. They are already harvesting the crop for eternal life. So the one who plants and the one who gathers can now be glad together. 37 Here is a true saying. ‘One plants and another gathers. ’ 38 I sent you to gather what you have not worked for. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. We preach Christ crucified, the power of God and the wisdom of God, All God forbid that we should glorify, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.

PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks

For the candidates for baptism and confirmation: that they may live be every word that proceeds from your mouth.

All Gracious Father, you gave up your Son out of love for the world: lead us to ponder the mysteries of his Passion, that we may know eternal peace, through the shedding of our Saviour’s blood, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
