LENT Week 1 MONDAY MORNING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Hear our voice, O Lord, according to your faithful love, All according to your judgement, give us life.

Blessed are you, God of compassion and mercy: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

In the darkness of our sin, your light breaks forth the dawn: All and your healing springs up for deliverance.

As we rejoice in the gift of your saving help, All sustain us with your bountiful Spirit and open our lips to sing your praise.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 31 part 2 (Good News Translation)

9 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am in trouble; my eyes are tired from so much crying; I am completely worn out.

10 I am exhausted by sorrow, and weeping has shortened my life. I am weak from all my troubles; even my bones are wasting away.

11 All my enemies, and especially my neighbours, treat me with contempt. Those who know me are afraid of me; when they see me in the street, they run away.

12 Everyone has forgotten me, as though I were dead; I am like something thrown away. 13 I hear many enemies whispering; terror is all around me.

They are making plans against me, plotting to kill me.

14 But my trust is in you, O LORD; you are my God. 15 I am always in your care; save me from my enemies, from those who persecute me.

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, when scorn and shame besiege us and hope is veiled in grief, hold us in your wounded hands and make your face shine on us again, for you are our Lord and God. Amen.

Be merciful to me, O God, because of your constant love, All because of your great mercy, wipe away my sins. Wash away all my evil and make me clean from my sin, All I have sinned against you and done what you consider evil. All Heavenly Father, your Son battled with the powers of darkness, and grew closer to you in the desert: help us to use these days to grow in wisdom and prayer that we may witness to your saving love in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
