(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.
SONG ‘What would have I done’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: All your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself.
May we walk this day in the way of the cross, All and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 137 (Good News Translation)
By the rivers of Babylon we sat down; there we wept when we remembered Zion. 2 On the willows near by we hung up our harps.
3 Those who captured us told us to sing; they told us to entertain them: “Sing us a song about Zion. ”
4 How can we sing a song to the LORD in a foreign land? 5 May I never be able to play the harp again if I forget you, Jerusalem!
6 May I never be able to sing again if I do not remember you, if I do not think of you as my greatest joy!
7 Remember, LORD, what the Edomites did the day Jerusalem was captured. Remember how they kept saying, “Tear it down to the ground!”
8 Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy are those who pay you back for what you have done to us.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
God of our pilgrimage, you sent your Son to our strange land to bring us home to you; give us your songs to sing, that even in our exile we may be filled with the breath of the Spirit of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

48 The Jews answered Jesus, “Aren’t we right when we say you are a Samaritan? Aren’t you controlled by a demon? ” 49 “I am not controlled by a demon, ” said Jesus. “I honor my Father. You do not honor me. 50 I am not seeking glory for myself. But there is one who brings glory to me. He is the judge. 51 What I’m about to tell you is true. Whoever obeys my word will never die. ” 52 Then they cried out, “Now we know you are controlled by a demon! Abraham died. So did the prophets. But you say that whoever obeys your word will never die. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died. So did the prophets. Who do you think you are? ” 54 Jesus replied, “If I bring glory to myself, my glory means nothing. You claim that my Father is your God. He is the one who brings glory to me. 55 You do not know him. But I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him. And I obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham was filled with joy at the thought of seeing my day. He saw it and was glad. ” 57 “You are not even 50 years old, ” they said to Jesus. “And you have seen Abraham? ” 58 “What I’m about to tell you is true, ” Jesus answered. “Before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 When he said this, they picked up stones to kill him. But Jesus hid himself. He slipped away from the temple area. (John 8. 48 -59; NIr. V)
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. We preach Christ crucified, the power of God and the wisdom of God, All God forbid that we should glorify, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For the needy: that they may not be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All True and humble King, hailed by the crows as Messiah: grant us the faith to know you and love you, that we may be found beside you on the way of the cross, which is the path of glory. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
