(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.
SONG ‘You laid aside your majesty’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: All your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself.
May we walk this day in the way of the cross, All and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 56 (Good News Translation)
Be merciful to me, O God, because I am under attack; my enemies persecute me all the time. 2 All day long my opponents attack me. There are so many who fight against me.
3 When I am afraid, O LORD Almighty, I put my trust in you. 4 I trust in God and am not afraid; I praise him for what he has promised. What can a mere human being do to me?
5 My enemies make trouble for me all day long; they are always thinking up some way to hurt me! 6 They gather in hiding places and watch everything I do, hoping to kill me.
7 Punish them, O God, for their evil; defeat those people in your anger! 8 You know how troubled I am; you have kept a record of my tears.
Aren't they listed in your book? 9 The day I call to you, my enemies will be turned back. I know this: God is on my side— 10 the LORD, whose promises I praise.
11 In him I trust, and I will not be afraid. What can a mere human being do to me?
12 O God, I will offer you what I have promised; I will give you my offering of thanksgiving, 13 because you have rescued me from death and kept me from defeat.
And so I walk in the presence of God, in the light that shines on the living.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Faithful God, your deliverance is nearer than we know; free us from fear and help us to find courage in your Word, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

32 Jesus said to them, “What I’m about to tell you is true. It is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven. It is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 The bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven. He gives life to the world. ” 34 “Sir, ” they said, “always give us this bread. ” 35 Then Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry. And whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But it is just as I told you. You have seen me, and you still do not believe. 37 Everyone the Father gives me will come to me. I will never send away anyone who comes to me. 38 I have not come down from heaven to do what I want to do. I have come to do what the one who sent me wants me to do. 39 The one who sent me doesn’t want me to lose anyone he has given me. He wants me to raise them up on the last day. 40 My Father wants all who look to the Son and believe in him to have eternal life. I will raise them up on the last day. ” (John 6. 32 -40; NIr. V)
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. We preach Christ crucified, the power of God and the wisdom of God, All God forbid that we should glorify, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For the sick in body, mind and spirit, and all who suffer: may they know your power to heal and may we give time, care and comfort to them.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All Gracious Father, you gave up your Son out of love for the world: lead us to ponder the mysteries of his Passion, that we may know eternal peace, through the shedding of our Saviour’s blood, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘You chose the cross’
