LENT Week 5 SATURDAY MORNING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Let your ways be known upon earth, All your saving power among the nations.

As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: All your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself.

May we walk this day in the way of the cross, All and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 60 (Good News Translation)

You have rejected us, God, and defeated us; you have been angry with us—but now turn back to us. 2 You have made the land tremble, and you have cut it open; now heal its wounds, because it is falling apart.

3 You have made your people suffer greatly; we stagger around as though we were drunk. 4 You have warned those who have reverence for you, so that they might escape destruction.

5 Save us by your might; answer our prayer, so that the people you love may be rescued.

6 From his sanctuary God has said (…), Ephraim is my helmet and Judah my royal sceptre (…). Did the Philistines think they would shout in triumph over me? ”

9 Who, O God, will take me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 10 Have you really rejected us? Aren't you going to march out with our armies?

11 Help us against the enemy; human help is worthless. 12 With God on our side we will win; he will defeat our enemies.

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

Risen Christ, you claim your own among the nations; mend what is broken in us, loving Saviour; do not forsake us when we fail, but in your service grant us daring and love; for your name’s sake. Amen.

14 Jesus did nothing until halfway through the feast. Then he went up to the temple courtyard and began to teach. 15 The Jews there were amazed. They asked, “How did this man learn so much without being taught? ” 16 Jesus answered, “What I teach is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. 17 Here is how someone can find out whether my teaching comes from God or from me. That person must choose to do what God wants them to do. 18 Whoever speaks on their own does it to get personal honor. But someone who works for the honor of the one who sent him is truthful. Nothing about him is false. 19 Didn’t Moses give you the law? But not one of you obeys the law. Why are you trying to kill me? ” (John 7. 14 -19; NIr. V)

We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: All for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. We preach Christ crucified, the power of God and the wisdom of God, All God forbid that we should glorify, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, for by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.

PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks

For those who lie in the fear of death: may they give up this fear in Jesus, and rejoice with those who died in faith.

(We offer ourselves to the Lord)

All Gracious Father, you gave up your Son out of love for the world: lead us to ponder the mysteries of his Passion, that we may know eternal peace, through the shedding of our Saviour’s blood, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
