rd 3 week of ADVENT FRIDAY MORNING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love

Lord our God, reveal among us the light of your presence, All that we may see your power and glory.

(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)

O Lord, open our lips, All and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

O Adonai, and leader of the House of Israel, All who appeared to Moses in the fire of the burning bush

And gave him the law on Sinai: All come and redeem us with an outstretched arm.

Blessed are you, Sovereign Lord, just and true: All to you be praise and glory for ever.

Your prophet, John the Baptist, was witness to the truth: All as a burning and shining lamp.

May we rejoice in his light and so be led to witness to Christ, All the Lord of our coming kingdom, Jesus, our Saviour and King of the ages.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 80 part 1 (Good News Version)

Listen to us, O Shepherd of Israel; hear us, leader of your flock. Seated on your throne above the winged creatures, 2 reveal yourself to the tribes of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh.

Show us your strength; come and save us! 3 Bring us back, O God! Show us your mercy, and we will be saved!

4 How much longer, LORD God Almighty, will you be angry with your people's prayers? 5 You have given us sorrow to eat, a large cup of tears to drink.

6 You let the surrounding nations fight over our land; our enemies insult us. 7 Bring us back, Almighty God! Show us your mercy, and we will be saved!

8 You brought a grapevine out of Egypt; you drove out other nations and planted it in their land. 9 You cleared a place for it to grow; its roots went deep, and it spread out over the whole land.

10 It covered the hills with its shade; its branches overshadowed the giant cedars. 11 It extended its branches to the Mediterranean Sea and as far as the Euphrates River.

Faithful Shepherd of your people, as we look for the fight of your countenance, restore in us the image of your glory and graft us into the risen life of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

5 You come to help those who enjoy doing what is right. You help those who thank you for teaching them how to live. But when we continued to disobey you, you became angry with us. So how can we be saved? (Isaiah 64. 5; NIr. V)

All God for whom we watch and wait, you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son: give us courage to speak the truth, to hunger for justice and to suffer for the cause of right, with Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Awaiting his coming in glory, as our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
