(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Hear our voice, O Lord, according to your faithful love, All according to your judgement, give us life.
SONG ‘Boldly I approach’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our Salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
In the darkness of our sin, you have shone in our hearts: All to give the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Christ.
May the knowledge of your presence free us from sin and shame, All that we may grow into your likeness from glory to glory.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 44 part 2 (Good News Translation)
9 But now you have rejected us and let us be defeated; you no longer march out with our armies. 10 You made us run from our enemies, and they took for themselves what was ours.
11 You allowed us to be slaughtered like sheep; you scattered us in foreign countries. 12 You sold your own people for a small price as though they had little value.
13 Our neighbours see what you did to us, and they mock us and laugh at us.
14 You have made us a joke among the nations; they shake their heads at us in scorn.
15 I am always in disgrace; I am covered with shame 16 from hearing the sneers and insults of my enemies and those who hate me.
17 All this happened to us, even though we have not forgotten you or broken the covenant you made with us.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
In the darkness of unknowing, when your love seems absent, draw near to us, O God, in Christ forsaken, in Christ risen, our Redeemer and our Lord. Amen.

23 Jesus looked around. He said to his disciples, “How hard it is for rich people to enter God’s kingdom!” 24 The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, “Children, how hard it is to enter God’s kingdom! 25 Is it hard for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? It is even harder for someone who is rich to enter God’s kingdom!” 26 The disciples were even more amazed. They said to each other, “Then who can be saved? ” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With people, this is impossible. But not with God. All things are possible with God. ” (Mark 10. 23 -27; NIr. V)
Spare my life, O God, and save me. All and I will gladly proclaim your righteousness. My sacrifice is a humble spirit, All you will not reject a humble and repentant heart. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All Spare my life, O God, and save me, and I will gladly proclaim your righteousness.
(Time of quiet adoration)
CANTICLE Luke 1. 46 -55 (Good News Translation) Come, let us return to the Lord, for our God will richly pardon.
My heart praises the Lord; my soul is glad because of God my Saviour, for he has remembered me, his lowly servant!
From now on all people will call me happy, because of the great things the Mighty God has done for me. His name is holy; from one generation to another he shows mercy to those who honour him.
He has stretched out his mighty arm and scattered the proud with all their plans. He has brought down mighty kings from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with empty hands.
He has kept the promise he made to our ancestors, and has come to the help of his servant Israel.
He has remembered to show mercy to Abraham and to all his descendants forever!
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Come, let us return to the Lord, for our God will richly pardon.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For the people of God: that we may triumph over evil and grow in grace.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All Almighty God, you see that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves: keep us both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘There is a redeemer’
