RULE OF SIX Max: 6 lines per slide Max: 6 words pre line v Always fewer words are always better! v Words are just to emphasize a point that you can expand on!
MORE WORDS v Audience become disinterested and focus attention away v Audience may read instead of listening v Never put down your fear for audience about : “get it? ” by words! v The greatest multitasker can’t read and listen at the same time! v Retroactive Inhibition
LETTER CASE v Lowercase type styles for improved reader comprehension! Eye recognizes letters by the shape of the upper half v Top half of lowercase letters are more distinctive (stand out against the with background)
COLOR v How many colors can I use in one slide? Limit to a maximum of 4! v Be consistent with color choice
COLOR v Primary colors: Red / Yellow / Blue v Secondary colors: Green / Orange / Violet v The greatest contrast by a pair of primary colors v The least contrast by a pair of secondary colors
COLOR DISTINGUISHING v Text colors should be distinguishable from the color of background: Ø White or pale text: dark background Ø Black or Blue text: lighter background v Avoid red and green! Can be difficult to see for individuals v Yellow with black lettering is the most readable
