PRAYER OF TRANSFORMATION
* HYMN Come, Ye Thankful People, Come #551 in the Blue Hymnal
Come, ye thankful people, come, Raise the song of harvest home: All is safely gathered in, Ere the winter storms begin; God, our Maker, doth provide For our wants to be supplied; Come to God’s own temple, come, Raise the song of harvest home.
All the world is God’s own field, Fruit unto God's praise to yield; Wheat and tares together sown, Unto joy or sorrow grown; First the blade, and then the ear, Then the full corn shall appear: Lord of harvest, grant that we Wholesome grain and pure may be.
For the Lord our God shall come, And shall take the harvest home; From each field shall in that day All offenses purge away; Give the angels charge at last In the fire the tares to cast, But the fruitful ears to store In God's garner evermore.
Even so, Lord, quickly come To Thy final harvest home; Gather Thou Thy people in, Free from sorrow, free from sin; There forever purified, In Thy presence to abide: Come, with all Thine angels come, Raise the glorious harvest home.
PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS – (IN UNISON) Adapted from Guigo de Castro 1083 -1137
Lord, how much juice you can squeeze from a single grape. How much water you can draw from a single well. How great a fire you can kindle from a tiny spark. How great a tree you can grow from a tiny seed.
Our souls are so dry that by ourselves we cannot pray, yet you can squeeze from the juice of a thousand prayers. Our souls get so parched that by ourselves we cannot love, yet you can draw from us boundless love for you and for our neighbors.
Our souls get so cold that by ourselves we have no joy, yet you can light the fire of heavenly joy within us. Our souls get so feeble that by ourselves, we have no faith, but by your power our faith can grow to a great height.
Forgive us for when we doubt what you can do in our lives and in this world. With you, Jesus, all things are possible! In your name we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness
*Great Is Thy Faithfulness (# 276, verse 3) Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide; Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

THE POWER OF CONTENTMENT Philippians 4: 10 -20
Thanksgiving for the Word
O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.
SCRIPTURE READINGS — Philippians 4: 10 -20 (New Testament, Page 198 in NRSV pew Bible)
I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned for me, but had no opportunity to show it.
I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. In any case, it was kind of you to share my distress. You Philippians indeed know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you alone.
For even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me help for my needs more than once. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit that accumulates to your account. I have been paid in full and have more than enough;
I am fully satisfied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.
And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
THE POWER OF CONTENTMENT Philippians 4: 10 -20
* This We Believe (CONGREGATION READS WORDS IN BOLD) Matthew 6: 31 -33 NRSV
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat? ’ or ‘What will we drink? ’ or ‘What will we wear? ’ For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things;
and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things; But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
HYMN In Christ Alone (Please see insert. )
In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease my comforter, my all in all Here, in the love of Christ, I stand.
In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save 'Til on that cross, as Jesus died The love of God was magnified, For every sin, on him, was laid Here, in the death of Christ, I live.
There in the ground, his body lay Light of the world, by darkness, slain Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave, he rose again And as he stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me For I am his and he is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no human plan Can ever pluck me from his hand 'Til he returns or calls me home Here, in the power of Christ, I stand.
The Prayers of the People
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.
Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer (Debtors version)
Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. Amen.
OFFERING OUR TITHES AND GIFTS (Visitors, in the pew rack you will find a Guest Information card. Please complete the card, then place it in the offering plate. )
OFFERTORY — My Tribute arr. John Innes
*THE RESPONSE OF PRAISE – DOXOLOGY (#592) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Offering of Prayer (in unison) Adapted from Thomas A Kempis 1380 -1471
Our God, our All! What greater blessing can we receive than your love? What greater wealth can we possess than your grace? What greater pleasure can we enjoy than your presence? . . .
What greater wisdom can we know than your gospel? Your wisdom is so simple that even as foolish as we often are, we can understand it.
Your love is so generously given that no matter how we fall short of your call, still we are free to receive it. Your presence is everywhere so we can always find you.
Your grace is such a constant source of reassurance that we can trust you completely for all our spiritual and material needs. And the power of your love gives such warmth that no matter how cold or hard our hearts become you can melt them.
Our God, our All, may these gifts go forth so that everyone may know and experience the wonder of who you are. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
HYMN Now Thank we All Our God # 555 in the Blue Hymnals
Now thank we all our God With heart and hands and voices, Who wondrous things hath done, In whom this world rejoices; Who, from our mothers’ arms Hath blessed us on our way With countless gifts of love, And still is ours today.
O may this bounteous God Through all our life be near us, With ever joyful hearts And blessèd peace to cheer us; And keep us in God’s grace, And guide us when perplexed, And free us from all ills In this world and the next.
All praise and thanks to God, Who reigns in highest heaven, To Father and to Son And Spirit now be given. The one eternal God, Whom earth and heaven adore, The God who was, and is, And shall be evermore.
