PRAYER OF TRANSFORMATION
HYMN Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart! # 145 in the Blue Hymnals
Rejoice ye pure in heart! Rejoice, give thanks, and sing! Your festal banner wave on high, The cross of Christ your King. Rejoice! rejoice, Give thanks, and sing!
Yes, on through life's long path, Still chanting as ye go; From youth to age, by night and day, In gladness and in woe. Rejoice! rejoice, Give thanks, and sing!
At last the march shall end; The wearied ones shall rest; The pilgrims find their home at last, Jerusalem the blest. Rejoice! rejoice, Give thanks, and sing!
Then on, ye pure in heart! Rejoice, give thanks, and sing! Your festal banner wave on high, The cross of Christ your King. Rejoice! rejoice, Give thanks, and sing!
Prayer for Forgiveness (IN UNISON) Adapted from Guigo de Castro, 1083 -1137
Lord…How much water you can draw from a single well. How great a fire you can kindle from a tiny spark. How great a tree you can grow from a tiny seed.
Our souls get so parched that by ourselves we cannot love, yet you can draw from us boundless love for you and for our neighbors. Our souls get so cold that by ourselves we have no joy, yet you can light the fire of heavenly joy within us.
Our souls get so feeble that by ourselves, we have no faith, but by your power our faith can grow to a great height. Forgive us for when we doubt what you can do in our lives no matter how parched or cold or feeble we may seem to be.
Let us always be full of prayer, full of love, full of joy, full of faith. In the name of the one who is the source of all good things, we pray. Amen.
A Time for Silence You may use this time for silent prayer, meditation, or simply to rest in the presence of God.
Assurance of Forgiveness
Glory be to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Children, please come to the front to be with Pastor Kennedy.
A SERVICE OF HOLY BAPTISM PRESENTATION RENUNCIATION AND AFFIRMATION
* This We Believe (Congregation reads lines shown in bold. ) The Apostle’s Creed
Brothers and Sisters, what do you believe concerning God the Father? We believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, Brothers and Sisters, what do you believe concerning God the Son?
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he will come to judge the living and the dead. Sisters and brothers, what do you believe concerning God, the Holy Spirit?
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THANKSGIVING OVER THE WATER BAPTISM THE BLESSING AND ANOINTING THE WELCOME (CONGREGATION READS LINES SHOWN IN BOLD. ) Magnificent God, we are gathered in this place with joy as our touchstone; with thanksgiving our song.
We celebrate the gift of grace in this sacrament. We give thanks for your incredible love that has brought Camden to this place. We rejoice in the opportunity to receive him into our family of faith; to encircle him with love and join with him in joy.
As beads of water trickle over his temples, may he feel himself bathed in a sanctuary of belonging. As his brothers and sisters, our strength will go with him, our dreams and our laughter; our wisdom and prayers.
In this moment, this once in a lifetime occasion, we see reflected in his face generations of faithful disciples who have already passed through these waters. We abound in the hope of God's on-going care.
*THE SONG OF WELCOME – Jesus Loves Me! # 304 in the Blue Hymnal
Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so; Little ones to Him belong; They are weak, but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! This I know, As He loved so long ago, Taking children on His knee, Saying, "Let them come to Me. ” Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.
THE PEACE

Joy No Matter What Philippians 1: 12 -26
Thanksgiving for the Word
O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.
SCRIPTURE READING— Philippians 1: 12 -26 (New Testament, Page 196 in pew Bible)
I want you to know, beloved, that what has happened to me has actually helped to spread the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to everyone else that my imprisonment is for Christ;
and most of the brothers and sisters, having been made confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, dare to speak the word with greater boldness and without fear. Some proclaim Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from goodwill.
These proclaim Christ out of love, knowing that I have been put here for the defense of the gospel; the others proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but intending to increase my suffering in my imprisonment.
What does it matter? Just this, that Christ is proclaimed in every way, whether out of false motives or true; and in that I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance.
It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now as always in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.
If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which I prefer. I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better;
but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in faith, so that I may share abundantly in your boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.
Joy No Matter What Philippians 1: 12 -26
HYMN Arise, Your Light Is Come! # 411 in the Blue Hymnals
Arise, your light is come! The Spirit's call obey; Show forth the glory of your God, Which shines on you today.
Arise, your light is come! Fling wide the prison door; Proclaim the captives' liberty, Good tidings to the poor.
Arise, your light is come! All you in sorrow born, Bind up the brokenhearted ones And comfort those who mourn.
Arise, your light is come! The mountains burst in song! Rise up like eagles on the wing; God's power will make us strong.
The Prayers of the People
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.
Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer (Debtors version)
The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread Forgive us our debts As we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. Amen.

Anthem In This Very Room Ron and Carol Harris
The Response of Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; Praise Triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
Offering of Prayer (in unison) Adapted from Jane Grayshon Midwife and writer, afflicted with chronic pain for 30 years
May we long not for the smoothness of sand which looks good, and feels flat, and is easy to walk on but will not withstand a storm. May we build our hopes on you. Though you may not prevent the storms, you keep us firm within them.
So even if we’re battered, we cannot fall except deeper into a crevice in the rock; deeper into you. In the name of the One who is our Rock and Refuge we pray. Amen.
*Hymn Live Into Hope # 332 in the Blue Hymnal
Live into hope of captives freed, of sight regained, the end of greed. The oppressed shall be the first to see The year of God's own jubilee!
Live into hope the blind shall see with insight and with clarity, Removing shades of pride and fear — A vision of our God brought near.
Live into hope of liberty, The right to speak, the right to be, The right to have one's daily bread, To hear God's word and thus be fed.
Live into hope of captives freed From chains of fear or want or greed. God now proclaims our full release To faith and hope and joy and peace.
CHARGE AND BLESSING Congregational Response: God be with you till we meet again; Loving counsels guide, uphold you, With a Shepherd’s care enfold you; God be with you till we meet again.
