Hello all, My name is Tate Luker, and I’m beyond excited to be your librarian this year! I’m from Sweet Water (graduated in 2009), but this is my first year working here and my first year as a librarian. I can’t tell you how glad I am that I get to serve the students and community here. So, with all that said, welcome to the 2020 -2021 school year. Let’s make it a great one together!

Alright seriously, I’ll do this in list form, because I tend to get wordy. - I grew up in SW, graduated in 2009, and graduated from Troy with a history degree in 2014. - I’ve been teaching and coaching at New Brockton High School for 6 years. - I’ve been married to my wife Brittney for 8 years. We have three kids: a 5 year old little girl, Ellie Grace, and 3 year old twin boys, Elijah and Ezra. She’s 200% sweet girl, and they’re 2000% wild boys.

Reading and Writing Sports Family Time
Devil in the White City- The true story of H. H. Holmes, America’s first documented serial killer. True history told in an interesting narrative form, those who love true crime shows would enjoy this. Red Country- A genre bending, deep, action filled novel that’s like a Clint Eastwood movie merged with a Tolkien novel. An excellent read for those who like philosophy with a side of face punching. The New Achilles- A very detailed, exciting historical fiction novel that tells the story of Philipoemon, a Greek general known to his peers as “The New Achilles. ” The fun, informative tale of the coolest historical figure you’ve never heard of. The Grace of Kings- An epic fantasy story (based on ancient Chinese history) set in a China/Japan sort of world, which you don’t see often in epics. One of the best written and most unique books I’ve ever read.
