PRAYER OF TRANSFORMATION
*Hymn Come, Sing, O Church in Joy # 430 in the Blue Hymnal
Come sing, O church, in joy! Come join, O church, in song! For Christ the Lord has led us through the ages long! In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!
Long years have come and gone, And still God reigns supreme, Empowering us to catch the vision, dream the dream! In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!
Let courage be our friend, Let wisdom be our guide, As we in mission magnify the Crucified! In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!
Come sing, O church, in joy! Come join, O church, in song! For Christ the Lord has triumphed o'er the ages long! In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!
PRAYER OF FORGIVENESS – (IN UNISON) Adapted from William Temple, 1881 -1944
O God of love, we ask you to give us love; love in our thinking, love in our speaking, love in our doing, and love in the hidden places of our souls
love of those with whom we find it hard to bear, and love of those who find it hard to bear with us; love of those with whom we work, and love of those with whom we take our ease.
And where love fails, show us your forgiving grace, that even on our worst days, we will know that your love makes us worthy to dwell with you who are eternal love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Taming the Tongue Ephesians 4: 29 -32 Chaplain Thomas Luke
Thanksgiving for the Word
O Word of God incarnate, O Wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.
SCRIPTURE READINGS — Ephesians 4: 29 -32 (New Testament, Page 194 in NRSV pew Bible)
Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.
Put away from you all bitterness and wrath and anger and wrangling and slander, together with all malice,
and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Taming the Tongue Ephesians 4: 29 -32 Chaplain Thomas Luke
* This We Believe (in unison) Ephesians 4: 29 -32, The Message
Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. Don’t grieve God. Don’t break his heart.
His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in you, is the most intimate part of your life, making you fit for himself. Don’t take such a gift for granted.
Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive.
Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.
*THE HYMN OF COMMITMENT – Lord Speak to Me, That I May Speak # 426, in the Blue Hymnals
Lord, speak to me, that I may speak In living echoes of Thy tone; As Thou has sought, so let me seek Thine erring children lost and lone.
O lead me, Lord, that I may lead The wandering and the wavering feet; O feed me, Lord, that I may feed Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.
O teach me, Lord, that I may teach The precious things Thou dost impart; And wing my words, that they may reach The hidden depths of many a heart.
O fill me with Thy fullness, Lord, Until my very heart o'erflow In kindling thought and glowing word, Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.
O use me, Lord, use even me, Just as Thou wilt, and when, and where; Until Thy blessed face I see, Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share.
The Prayers of the People
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in his wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of his glory and grace.
Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer (Debtors version)
Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. Amen.
OFFERING OUR TITHES AND GIFTS (Visitors, in the pew rack you will find a Guest Information card. Please complete the card, then place it in the offering plate. )

* The Response of Praise — DOXOLOGY (#592) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; O, praise Him! Alleluia! Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. O praise Him, O praise Him! Alleluia!
Offering of Prayer (in unison) Adapted from William Law (1686 -1761)
O God, in whom nothing can live but as it lives in love; grant us the spirit of love, which does not want to be rewarded, honored or esteemed,
but only to become the blessing and happiness of all who need it; this we pray in your name,
for yourself are Love, in time and eternity. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
HYMN To God Be the Glory # 485 in the Blue Hymnals
To God be the glory, great things He hath done! So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And opened the life gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory: great things He hath done.
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the earth hear His voice! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory: great things He hath done.
* CHARGE AND BLESSING Congregational Response: God be with you till we meet again; Loving counsels guide, uphold you, With a Shepherd’s care enfold you; God be with you till we meet again.
