Wilmslow Bypass Ffordd Osgoi Wilmslow Cheadle Royal Handforth Dean The Wilmslow Bypass (A 34) is a major transport artery taking commuter traffic from the commuter belt of North Cheshire into the Manchester conurbation. In the north it is in the (former) county of Greater Manchester, in the south, Cheshire. The developers asked each county whether they would be allowed to build an out-of-town shopping development if they completed the bypass. The outcome was two large shopping developments for the price of one bypass. It is likely that if they had asked for one larger shopping centre to each county they would have been refused planning permission!
