The institution where the course was taken must be regionally accredited. 4. The student must submit an official transcript from each institution attended.

Community College Transfer Credit • Maximum 64 semester hours of transfer credit • Students who earn a transferable AA, AS or AFA degree or who completed the NC CAA (44 hour core) will receive a general education exemption (the 44 hour core has been discontinued) • NC Community Colleges have pre-approved courses that will transfer to UNC Charlotte. Academic departments determine how these courses will transfer to UNC Charlotte and what courses will be equated.

We will not award credit for AP, IB or CLEP from another college’s transcript, students must submit an official score report. Additional Information about Admissions and Transfer Credit 1. Transfer credit will not be removed

Additional Information about Admissions and Transfer Credit 1. Transfer credit will not be removed from a student’s record to avoid tuition surcharge. 2. When a student brings in more than 64 hours from a community college, the evaluator will include the credits that are most relevant to the student’s degree. If an advisor would like to adjust the courses that have been transferred in, please contact a credit evaluator. 3. Credit is not awarded until the student completes the course. Courses in progress will not be evaluated until the student submits an updated transcript. 4. If a student is unable to attend UNC Charlotte for the term for which they were admitted, they must reapply for admission. They CANNOT defer their admission and wait for the following term. They must reapply for admission through Undergraduate Admissions. Please refer all student questions about deferment to an admissions counselor.

Explain the Foreign Language and Writing Intensive Requirements • Foreign Language requirements will vary by both College and Departments. • Writing Intensive Requirements Students who transfer in with an Associates Degree that satisfies the General Education requirements must still complete a 3 credit hour writing intensive course in their major. This requirement will often be satisfied by the Writing Intensive course that is required by the major.
