WHAT IS CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT? • “Concurrent enrollment” means a student is simultaneously enrolled in

WHAT IS CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT? • “Concurrent enrollment” means a student is simultaneously enrolled in a local education provider and in an institute of higher education or career and technical courses. • “Concurrent enrollment” means FREE community college classes to qualifying students! ( DPS will only pay up to community college rate for Metro and UCD. ) • With “concurrent enrollment” the student will receive both college level credit as well as high school credit for each college class successfully passed.

GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS 9 th graders are not eligible for college classes. 10 th graders are limited to 6 college credit hours during the year. 11 th and 12 th graders are limited to 12 college credit hours per year.

WHAT’S THE CATCH? Students who fail to complete the course or fail the course

WHAT’S THE CATCH? Students who fail to complete the course or fail the course must reimburse their school. Students who withdraw past the deadline must reimburse their school. A student who fails two college courses will not be allowed to take a third. Students are highly recommended to enroll in a Guarantee Transfer course.

THE COF The COF is the Colorado Opportunity Fund. After you apply for the

THE COF The COF is the Colorado Opportunity Fund. After you apply for the COF this is paid automatically on a per credit hour basis for a maximum of up to 145 credits. (You only need to apply once!) This is a free stipend to pay a portion of your total in-state tuition when you attend a Colorado public institution or participating Colorado private institution. You must apply for this either online or print out an application. • If you do not have a social security number or government issued ID you can still apply but you must fill out a paper application, see your counselor for help with this.

WHAT IS THE ACCUPLACER? Accuplacer is an adaptive test that the entire community college system has adapted. This means that the questions are chosen for you on the basis of your answers to previous questions. This technique selects just the right questions for your ability level. Test includes: • Multiple choice questions covering reading, mathematics, writing and language use skills

THE ACCUPLACER The Accuplacer is available in any community college testing center. At CCD

THE ACCUPLACER The Accuplacer is available in any community college testing center. At CCD there is a $10 fee. The test can also be given by your high school counselor at DSA. We have copies of a sample questions available. You can only take the test up to 3 times.

STUDENTS MAY BYPASS THE ACCUPLACER IF: B grade or better in 11 th grade

B grade or better in Algebra 2 AND a 3. 0 unweighted cumulative GPA will allow for placement into CTE Math, Liberal Arts Math, or Statistics B grade or better in Pre. Calculus AND a 3. 0 unweighted cumulative GPA will allow for placement into College Algebra

YOUR NEXT STEPS Apply to the community college you are interested in taking classes at. When you complete your application, also apply for the COF. Take the Accuplacer (if you qualify to bypass see your counselor. ) Submit the district paper work to your counselor. Meet with admissions counselor to register for classes (see DSA counselor for contact information. )
