n This table is a pictorial representation of over 20 years of research showing a percentage of effectiveness. The Joyce and Showers model suggests that although knowledge and skills can be developed through staff development sessions, it is coaching that has the most impact on the appropriate development use of skills that have a sustained impact on the students’ learning environment. This is surely a contentious finding for anyone who is involved in designing staff development and quality improvement because it suggests that staff involved in development programmes need to include substantial opportunities for coaching. 2005/07/15~18 37 37
