We stand before throne of God, with countless crowds, All from every nation and race, tribe and language.

(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)

O Lord, open our lips, All and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Your faithful servants bless you, All they make known the glory of your kingdom.

The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light: All on those dwelling in the shadow of death, a light has dawned.

God has swallowed up on this mountain the veil spread over all nations: All He has swallowed up death for ever.

O death, where is your victory? All O death, where is your sting?

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.

THE WORD OF GOD The book of the promises

PSALM (Good News Version) Psalm 48 part 1

The LORD is great and is to be highly praised in the city of our God, on his sacred hill. 2 Zion, the mountain of God, is high and beautiful; the city of the great king brings joy to all the world.

3 God has shown that there is safety with him inside the fortresses of the city. 4 The kings gathered together and came to attack Mount Zion.

5 But when they saw it, they were amazed; they were afraid and ran away. 6 There they were seized with fear and anguish, like a woman about to bear a child, 7 like ships tossing in a furious storm.

8 We have heard what God has done, and now we have seen it in the city of our God, the LORD Almighty; he will keep the city safe forever.

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

Father of lights, raise us with Christ to your eternal city, that, with kings and nations, we may wait in the midst of your temple and see your glory for ever and ever. Amen.

23 Here is the order of events: Christ is the first of those who rise from the dead; when he comes back, those who belong to him will be raised. 24 Then the end will come after Christ destroys all rule, authority and power; then he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father. 25 Christ must rule until he has put all his enemies under his control 26 and the last enemy that will be destroyed is death (…) 28 When he has done that, the Son also will be under God’s rule. All Lord our God, your Son overcame the sting of death and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers; in the darkness of this age that is passing away, may the light of your presence which the saints enjoy surround our steps as we journey on. We pray you in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER As our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
