Significant Safety Achievements- 8/17 • A total of 9 Work Activities were renewed/approved in August. These involved EHS collaboration and lab visits. Two new Work Activities were also generated: – ED-0032 “Desalination Flow Cell Microscopy” – ED-0033 “Nitric Acid Treatment 70 -249” • • • Provided follow-up on ALD walkthrough action items. A good deal of progress was made. Established designated outdoor gas cylinder storage areas for ETA operations in B 51 F, B 62, B 63, B 70, and B 90 X. This includes CMS “outdoor location” inventory and hazard placards. Work on telecommuter ergonomic assessments continues. We have added two new ergo advocates for EAEI. Assisted with the clean-out of old chemicals and equipment in the B 46 -231 dry lab area. Performed an old chemical clean-out and CMS inventory update in the FLEXLAB 90 C trailer. Participated in vendor demonstrations for proposed hazardous waste requisition software LBNL is evaluating.

Short Term Safety Outlook 9/17 • Continue Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities

Short Term Safety Outlook 9/17 • Continue Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities renewals. We have yet another bunch going through EHS collaboration. • Complete the telecommuter ergonomic assessments. We are about three quarters of the way through our list. • Start self-assessment project involving evaluation of Activity Manager use by assigned workers. • Provide follow-up on the recent issue involving a sample sent offsite that self-heated. • Assist divisions complete follow-up on action items generated from the recent ALD walkthroughs. • Participate as the lead for an Effectiveness Review the Molecular Foundry has requested regarding corrective actions taken on the three same-day hazardous materials incidents they experienced last year.
