Significant Safety Achievements- 9/17 • • • A walkthrough was performed of all ETA work areas in response to the labwide electrical equipment demolition “pause”. No issues related to the pause were identified. The 70 -218 sulfur glove box was cleaned-out. A batch of old chemicals and samples was sent out for waste disposal. All remaining items were bar coded and entered into the CMS. Home ergonomic evaluations continue. Only a few more remain. Assisted with set-up of a lab area in 62 -138. Cyclotron Road performed a safety walkthrough on 9/13/17. I followed up on several issues identified. A batch of old chemicals was disposed in B 63. I am also making arrangements for the return of 10 sulfur hexafluoride gas cylinders. The hydrogen sensors in 70 -257 received their annual calibration. Work on the Molecular Foundry’s “Effectiveness Review” for three incidents has started. I am leading the review team. I gave two safety presentations at the County of Santa Clara’s 32 nd annual Safety Seminar.
Short Term Safety Outlook 10/17 • Generate the 2018 Self-Assessment Plan for ETA. The top three projects have been identified. • Continue Level 2 and Level 3 Work Activities renewals. Only a few more to go in 2017. • Complete the telecommuter ergonomic assessments. • Start self-assessment project involving evaluation of Activity Manager use by assigned workers. • Provide follow-up on the recent issue involving a sample sent offsite that self-heated. • Assist divisions complete follow-up on action items generated from the recent ALD walkthroughs. • Participate as the lead for an Effectiveness Review the Molecular Foundry has requested regarding corrective actions taken on the three same-day hazardous materials incidents they experienced last year.
