GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE FLAT ROOF A flat roof is a type of covering of a building. In contrast to the sloped form of a roof, a flat roof is horizontal or nearly horizontal. Materials that cover flat roofs should allow the water to run off freely from a very slight inclination. Traditionally flat roofs would use a tar and gravel based surface which, as long as there was no pooling of water, was sufficient to prevent penetration. However, these surfaces would tend to fail in colder climates, where ice dams and the like could block the flow of water. Similarly, they tend to be sensitive to sagging of the roof reversing the subtle grading of the surface.

FLAT ROOFS ADVANTAGES AND FLAT ROOF ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES FLAT ROOF DİSADVANTAGES • The (residential) flat roof construction is less demanding than the construction of any sloped roof (which needs an advanced construction consisting of trusses, beams, joists, etc. . . ); - For the same reason, the (residential) flat roof construction is cheaper than the construction of any pitched roof type; - Flat roofs are much easier to access (if you have the key from the right door, of course); - The roof works are much safer than on any of the pitch roofs • - The flat roof coatings do not last as long as the pitch roofing products; - The flat roof maintenance is more demanding and the replacement of flat roof is not that easy if it comes to that.

2) MECHANICALLY FASTENED SYSTEM • They are ideally suited to projects where wind uplift is high, fast installation is required or the attachment of the existing roofing system is unsatisfactory.

METAL ROOF AND ADVANTAGES • A metal roof is a roofing system made from metal pieces or tiles. They are components of the building envelope. ADVANTAGES OF A METAL ROOF: Usually lasts about twice as long as an asphalt roof. Tends to reflect more heat away (saving energy in the summer in southern climates). Resistant to damage from hail, branches, wind and forest fires. Lightweight so less roof sag. Brighter smoother colors. Rainwater harvesting systems may use metal roofs in order to limit contamination of water that has flowed over it.

ALUMINIUM CLAMP SYSTEMS Aluminum is extremely lightweight, won't rust but must be painted or coated for appearance. Coatings are similar to those used on steel.
