THE WORD OF GOD WEDNESDAY EVENING PRAYER Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love
WELCOME TO OUR WEDNESDAY EVENING SERVICE. This Power. Point presentation will give you all you need to celebrate at home this service. For the Song/Hymn, just click on the titles, and the weblink will open it directly in your computer. It has not always been possible to find traditional hymns with lyrics on the screen, and some have just to be listened to. Watch the video in full screen, then come back to this presentation. You have the choice between a modern song or a traditional hymn. The Psalm can be read by two people or two groups of people if you want. You may start by lighting a candle.
(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Speak, Lord, All for your servant is listening.
SONG/HYMN Modern Song: ‘Your Word is alive’ Traditional Hymn: ‘Will you not listen? ’
The Lord gives wisdom, All from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
Whoever believes in Christ, as Scriptures say, All ‘Rivers of living water will flow from within them.
If we remain in Christ and his words remain in us: All we can ask whatever we wish and it will be done for us.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD A light on our path
PSALM Psalm 147 (Good News Version)
Praise the LORD! It is good to sing praise to our God; it is pleasant and right to praise him. 2 The LORD is restoring Jerusalem; he is bringing back the exiles. 3 He heals the broken-hearted and bandages their wounds.
4 He has decided the number of the stars and calls each one by name. 5 Great and mighty is our Lord; his wisdom cannot be measured. 6 He raises the humble, but crushes the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing hymns of praise to the LORD; play music on the harp to our God. 8 He spreads clouds over the sky; he provides rain for the earth and makes grass grow on the hills. 9 He gives animals their food and feeds the young ravens when they call.
10 His pleasure is not in strong horses, nor his delight in brave soldiers; 11 but he takes pleasure in those who honor him, in those who trust in his constant love.
12 Praise the LORD, Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! 13 He keeps your gates strong; he blesses your people. 14 He keeps your borders safe and satisfies you with the finest wheat.
15 He gives a command to the earth, and what he says is quickly done. 16 He spreads snow like a blanket and scatters frost like dust.
He sends hail like gravel; no one can endure the cold he sends! 18 Then he gives a command, and the ice melts; he sends the wind, and the water flows. 17
19 He gives his message to his people, his instructions and laws to Israel. 20 He has not done this for other nations; they do not know his laws. Praise the LORD!
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Compassionate God, as you know each star you have created, so you know the secrets of every heart; in your loving mercy, bring to your table all who are fearful and broken, all who are wounded and needy, that our hungers may be satisfied in the city of your peace; through Jesus Christ who is our peace. Amen.

5 Get wisdom, and get understanding. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them. 6 Stay close to wisdom, and she will keep you safe. Love her, and she will watch over you. (Proverbs 4. 5 -6; NIr. V)
All your words are true, Lord, All all your righteous laws are eternal. I have hidden your word in my heart: All that I might not sin against you. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All your work are true, Lord; all your righteous laws are eternal.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For the people met during the day and their needs -For the Church and her mission
For those who don’t know your Word yet or refuse it, that they may open their hearts to your salvation by faith in your Son.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All Lord God, you open to us the Scriptures in your Church, and you make yourself known through them. Abide with us, we pray, that, blessed by your royal presence, we may walk with you all the days of our life, and at its end adore you in your glory, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER As our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG/HYMN Modern Song: ‘Say the word’ Traditional Hymn: ‘His Word will stand’
SENDING OUT Blessed are those who hear your Word, O Lord, and obey it: All because your words are Spirit and they are life.
Let us bless the Lord. All Thanks be to God.
