Lord our God, reveal among us the light of your presence, All that we may see your power and glory.

O King of the nations and their desire, All the cornerstone making both one;

Come and save the human race, All which you fashioned from clay.

Blessed are you, Sovereign Lord, who sent an angel tell Mary she was to be the mother of your Son; All to you be praise and glory for ever.

Though Mary was afraid, All she responded to your call with joy.

Help us in preparing to celebrate his birth, All to share like her in your work of bringing to your love and healing.

Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!

That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.

All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM Psalm 40 part 2 (Good News Version)

12 I am surrounded by many troubles— too many to count! My sins have caught up with me, and I can no longer see.

They are more than the hairs of my head, and I have lost my courage. 13 Save me, LORD! Help me now!

14 May those who try to kill me be completely defeated and confused. May those who are happy because of my troubles be turned back and disgraced.

15 May those who make fun of me be dismayed by their defeat.

16 May all who come to you be glad and joyful. May all who are thankful for your salvation always say, “How great is the LORD!”

17 I am weak and poor, O Lord, but you have not forgotten me. You are my saviour and my God— hurry to my aid!

Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.

All Heavenly Father, who chose Mary to be the mother of the saviour; fill us with your grace, that in all things we may embrace your will and with her rejoice in your salvation, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER Awaiting his coming in glory, as our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
