Today we are going to write a diary entry about Sayeeda’s pirate adventure.

Diary Writing When you write a diary entry, you are writing about a day in the life of a character or real person. It needs to be written from their point of view. It also needs to be exciting and interesting to read.

What to include … • A date – either at the top or in the first few sentences of the diary entry eg I was woken up at dawn. . . On Monday ……. • It must be written in the past because you are writing about something that has already happened. • Write in the first person using - I, my, we, our • Write as though you are there adding lots of detail and description. • Describe your feelings – excited, happy, disgusted

Here’s an example Dear Diary, Yesterday, I had the most amazing adventure. I was on the deck of the galleon and I was holding my beautiful jewelled key. All of a sudden a huge wave swept it from my hands and it fell over board. Daddy said “Shiver me timbers!” and I was very sad. I cried and cried. Luckily, a seagull helped me to find my key on a beautiful sandy, beach. Daddy gave me a big hug. It was fun flying on the seagulls back. I have locked my treasure box in my cupboard and I won’t take it on deck again. Bye for now, Sayeeda xx
