(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Hear our voice, O Lord, according to your faithful love, All according to your judgement, give us life.
SONG ‘Your Promises’
Blessed are you, Lord God of our Salvation: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
In the darkness of our sin, you have shone in our hearts: All to give the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Christ.
May the knowledge of your presence free us from sin and shame, All that we may grow into your likeness from glory to glory.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD… … a source of life
PSALM Psalm 31 part 1 (Good News Translation)
I come to you, LORD, for protection; never let me be defeated. You are a righteous God; save me, I pray!
2 Hear me! Save me now! Be my refuge to protect me; my defence to save me.
3 You are my refuge and defence; guide me and lead me as you have promised. 4 Keep me safe from the trap that has been set for me; shelter me from danger.
5 I place myself in your care. You will save me, LORD; you are a faithful God.
6 You hate those who worship false gods, but I trust in you. 7 I will be glad and rejoice because of your constant love.
You see my suffering; you know my trouble. 8 You have not let my enemies capture me; you have given me freedom to go where I wish.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, when scorn and shame besiege us and hope is veiled in grief, hold us in your wounded hands and make your face shine on us again, for you are our Lord and God. Amen.

5 “Everything they do is done for others to see. On their foreheads and arms they wear little boxes that hold Scripture verses. They make the boxes very wide. And they make the tassels on their coats very long. 6 They love to sit down in the place of honor at dinners. They also love to have the most important seats in the synagogues. 7 They love to be greeted with respect in the markets. They love it when people call them ‘Rabbi. ’ 8 “But you shouldn’t be called ‘Rabbi. ’ You have only one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 Do not call anyone on earth ‘father. ’ You have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 You shouldn’t be called ‘teacher. ’ You have one Teacher, and he is the Messiah. 11 The most important person among you will be your servant. 12 People who lift themselves up will be made humble. And people who make themselves humble will be lifted up. (Matthew 23. 5 -12; NIr. V)
Sincerity and truth are what you require, All fill my mind with your wisdom. Remove my sin, and I will be clean, All wash me, and I will be wither than snow. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All Sincerity and truth re what you require, fill my mind with your wisdom.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
For the poor in spirit, that they may inherit the kingdom of heaven and see you face to face.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All Lord God, your Son, our Saviour gave his back to the smiters and did not hide his face from shame: give us grace to endure the sufferings of this present tie with sure confidence in the glory that shall be revealed; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Trusting in the compassion of God, let us pray with confidence as our Saviour taught us:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
