Language Arts Curriculum and Expectations We follow the 6 th grade Common Core curriculum, using Reader’s/Writer’s Workshop. Homework Nightly Reading Students read a minimum of 20 minutes per night with a reading log. Summer Reading Both quizzes must be taken by the end of first 2 weeks of school. Class levels AIG Language Arts
AIG Students who were AIG in 5 th grade continue AIG in middle school. Students who qualified at the end of the year will be notified. Transfer students from another county need to contact Ms. Lisa Gibson to schedule summer testing. (See UCPS website) Curriculum/Expectations Vocabulary and texts are higher in level and rigor. In addition to the regular 6 th grade curriculum, students will use a combination of Reader’s/Writer’s Workshop, The William and Mary Persuasion Program, and the Jr. Great Books series.
