About the Teacher Miss Carter ● This is my 7 th year teaching 2 nd grade at Sanders Corner. ● I grew up with my Mom, Dad, and younger brother, Jeff, in Bucks County, PA, just north of Philadelphia. ● I attended the University of Delaware earning my Bachelor of Science in both Elementary Teacher Education and Middle School Math Education. I then went back to complete my Masters in Education at UD in Teacher Leadership. Go Blue Hens! ● Currently, I live in Clifton, VA with my fiancé, Brandon, and Golden Retriever, Roxy. We enjoy renovating/home projects, walks along local trails, and time at our family’s river house in Cobb Island, MD.

Distance Learning Tips ● a workspace with minimal distractions. ● noise-blocking headphones ● close all unnecessary tabs in the computer’s browser. ● a daily checklist made by you or your child. ● allow time for breaks (snack, bike ride, outdoor play, walking the dog, craft, reading, drawing, etc. ) ● Google Meet expectations (focused, sitting, on mute, no food, appropriate facial expressions and body language, etc. ) ● establishing a daily habit of your child showing you their work and accomplishments. ● Set recurring alarms in a cell phone as a reminder for Google Meets.

It may take some fine-tuning and several days or weeks before your child is used to it. I will send home a schedule for you once one is established that works best for our class.

Attendance ● The school day begins at 8: 00 am. It ends at 3: 00 pm ● Attendance will be taken during each Google Meet time that the students are expected to attend (whole group and small group). ● Absences still need to be called in to Sanders
Grading: Phoenix There are no letter grades. Our emphasis is on developmental progress throughout the year. School Supplies ● 2 plastic covered single subject wide ● We will also use the teacher provided 2 nd ruled notebooks grade materials (120 ● A single 2 -pocket plastic folder chart, dice, counters, ● 1 dozen #2 yellow Ticonderoga pencils etc. ) –pre-sharpened ● 1 box of 24 Crayola crayons ● 1 box of colored 12 ct. Pencils ● 1 Whiteboard marker ● 1 Whiteboard eraser (or can use old sock)
Your child will log onto Schoology through LCPS Go. Students will go to the homeroom course to access almost everything. Once they get into their homeroom course they will find the log in for the synchronous meetings. Their asynchronous assignments would be found there too.
