The Psalm can be read by two people or two groups of people if you want. You may start by lighting a candle.
O Lord, open our lips, All and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
You laid the foundation of the earth, All and the heavens are the work of your hands.
SONG ‘We worship a wonderful Saviour’
Blessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of heaven and earth: All to you be praise and glory for ever.
Your living Word, eternal in heaven: All assumed the frailty of our mortal flesh.
May the light of your love be born in us, All to fill our hearts as we proclaim your praise.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
The night has passed, and the day lies open before us; let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As we rejoice in the gift of this new day, so may the light of your presence, O God, set our hearts on fire with love for you; now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD Made flesh to save us
PSALM Psalm 148 part 1 (Good News Translation)
Praise the LORD from heaven, you that live in the heights above. 2 Praise him, all his angels, all his heavenly armies.
3 Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, shining stars. 4 Praise him, highest heavens, and the waters above the sky.
5 Let them all praise the name of the LORD! He commanded, and they were created; 6 by his command they were fixed in their places forever, and they cannot disobey.
7 Praise the LORD from the earth, sea monsters and all ocean depths; 8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, strong winds that obey his command.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
O glorious God, your whole creation sings your marvellous work; may heaven’s praise so echo in our hearts that we may be good stewards of the earth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

13 Suddenly a large group of angels from heaven also appeared. They were praising God. They said, 14 “May glory be given to God in the highest heaven! And may peace be given to those he is pleased with on earth!” (Luke 2. 6 -7; NIr. V)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God: All And the Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth lived among us. The true light that gives light to everyone came into the world, All and to all who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth lived among us.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For our family, friends and all whom we love -For the day and its tasks
The Holy Family lived in exile and in the shadow of death: for all who are poor and powerless, all the refugees over the world.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All God our Father, in love you sent your Son that the world may have life: lead us to seek him among the outcast and to find him in those in need, for Jesus’ Christ sake. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Rejoicing in the presence of God here among us, as our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘Born in Bethlehem’
SENDING OUT May God, who has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light: All bless us and fill us with peace.
Let us bless the Lord. All Thanks be to God.
