Puente Program The Puente Program links three components in helping students prepare for transfer

Puente Program The Puente Program links three components in helping students prepare for transfer to 4 -year colleges 1. 2. 3. English: Students need to enroll in two guaranteed consecutive English classes, English 101 (Fall) and English 102 (Spring). These classes help students to build confidence in their writing skills through an exploration of Chicano/Latino literature. Counseling: Students work closely with a Counselor until they reach their educational goals. Students also need to enroll in 3 consecutive counseling classes: CNSLG N 45 (one day orientation prior to Fall), Study Skills 101 (Fall) and CNSLG 104 (Spring). Mentoring: Students will be introduced to mentors from the business/professional community. Mentors share with students their experiences, and provide a window into "real-life" work environments. To participate, a student must : o Commit to a full year of and Counseling classes. o Be interested in transferring to a 4 -year college. o Participate in at least one out-of-class Puente activity per month.
