Adult Literacy The program is implemented through: § Rotary India Global Dream: A campaign, where a school student can teach an adult non-literate by using specially developed primers. § Literacy Centre: Rotary/ IW Clubs can set up an Adult Literacy Centre (ALC) at a centralised locality in both urban and rural areas. Government Liaison forged • HRD Ministry, Government of India - RILM has sought co -operation with the HRD Ministry to educate 200, 000 adults every year, for the next 5 years. • Govt of Gujarat – Partnering up with the State Government of Gujarat, RILM is providing state board mapped ELearning software to 24, 000 state run schools, where the hardware has already been provided by the Government. • Govt of Maharashtra – RILM in partnership with the State Government of Maharashtra will be providing E-Learning facilities to 18510 state board school. Partnerships forged • Aircel - Rotary India Literacy Mission partners with Aircel’s “Support My School” Campaign to make 50 Happy Schools in Chennai, Coimbatore and Pondicherry. • CREDAI – In Bangalore Credai is sponsoring 22 Happy Schools in District 3190, out of which the 10 schools have been completed. • SBI - Partnering up with Rotary Club of Bangalore SBI is providing funds for 18 Happy Schools, of which 8 are completed. Kids International has entered into an agreement with RILM to contribute in “Happy School” vertical, equipping the schools with adequate infrastructure. • British Council India - British Council aims to equip young students with core competencies to further their learning outcomes for participation in a global economy by training the teachers in association with RILM. • Macmillan Publishers India Private Ltd - Rotary India Literacy Mission (RILM) has entered into a pact with Macmillan to build the capacity of teachers and improve learning outcomes in students by conducting ‘Teacher Training Workshops’.
