AP Myth vs AP Reality? Myth Reality AP is for students who always get good grades. AP courses are for any student who is academically prepared and motivated to take on college-level courses. Taking AP courses could hurt my GPA. Many school use GPA weighting to acknowledge the additional effort required by AP. Additionally, taking an AP course shows admission officers a willingness to take on the academic challenge of college-level course work and expectations. AP courses are too stressful. AP courses are challenging, but the support you receive from your classmates and teachers can help ease your worries. I shouldn’t take the AP Exam unless I know I will receive a 5. You don’t have to score a 5 to receive college credit. Many colleges grant credit and placement based on a 3 or better. https: //apstudent. collegeboard. org/exploreap/the-ap-experience

Are Certification Pathways beneficial for college bound students? Certification pathways are beneficial to a student pursuing a 2 -4 year degree or higher • To qualify to take certification exams, students are required to participate in clinicals/internships/labs • This experience will prepare students for higher education as they begin to build a foundation in related course material. • Example: A student in the EMT Pathway will have experience going to calls in an ambulance and working in an ER. If they are applying to medical school, they will stand out for already having emergency medical experience on their resume. • Students are held to high standards, including workplace etiquette/professionalism, time management, and self-advocacy. • We offer rigorous coursework, including 5 Technical Dual Credit Pathways
