A “Father’s” Love Letter

You are “known”! • Many grow up in unloving homes and as a result they oft grow up feeling utterly unknown. • Many due to unresolved hurt and pain do not feel that they are worthy of being in anyone’s presence. • For sure, many do not feel worthy enough to be in God’s presence. • Thus life for them is a life of loneliness and feelings of abandonment.

Jeremiah 1: 4 -5 This is what God said: “Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations— that’s what I had in mind for you. ” (TMsg)

Ephesians 1: 11 -12 “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. ” (TMsg) • As the Israelites of old obtained an inheritance in the promised land, so those in Christ become partakes of that heavenly inheritance which he has secured for them.

Mistaken Views of God

What a “Father’s Day”! • Dad’s so often are a distant second when it comes to comparing Mother & Father’s Day. • Next Sunday is Father’s Day. • How many flowers will be sold? • How many big dinners will there be? • Mercy, dad is lucky to get a card. • But the Father’s Day that I am here speaking of is a Father’s Day like none other.

I John 3: 1 “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

Matthew 7: 11 “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Becoming a Child of God

I John 2: 23 No one who denies the Son has any part with the Father, but affirming the Son is an embrace of the Father as well.

Ephesians 3: 20 -21 20 God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Ø Glory to God in the church! Ø Glory to God in the Messiah, in Jesus! Ø Glory down all the generations! Ø Glory through all millennia! Oh, yes! (v. 21)

II Thessalonians 2: 16 -17 ” 16 May Jesus himself and God our Father, who reached out in love and surprised you with gifts of unending help and confidence, 17 put a fresh heart in you, invigorate your work, enliven your speech. ”

Romans 8: 31 -32 “ 31 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? 32 If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? ”

“Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue. ”

Revelation 21: 3 -4 3 I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God. 4 He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good — tears gone, crying gone, pain gone — all the first order of things gone. ”
