Media Hours and Tutoring ▪ Mondays and Wednesdays – 7: 30 a. m. – 4: 30 p. m ▪ Tuesdays and Thursdays – 8 a. m – 5: 30 p. m. ▪ Fridays – 7: 30 a. m. – 4: 00 p. m. **Note: Hours may change due to availability of staff NHS Tutoring Tuesdays and Thursdays – after school until 5: 00 p. m

Media Center basics…. . ▪ MC access before school, after school, and during Power Hour ▪ During the school day, you MUST have a yellow pass ▪ You can research, print, study, read books or magazines, use Makerspace area, or play a board game ▪ Book checkouts – up to 5 books at a time, for 2 weeks. Renewals can be done at media desk – you don’t have to bring the books. ▪ Printing: – Black and white coies -. 10 per page – Color -. 25 cents per page

When you come in to the media center…. Sign in on clipboard…. .

Punch in your student ID or show your ID to check out a book or a computer If using a computer, take index card and hang on computer

Textbooks and class novels ▪ Textbooks checked out to YOU! ▪ Each book has a unique barcode – that is the book that you need to return in May ▪ DO NOT leave your books in any teachers’ classrooms ▪ If you share a locker, make sure you know which books are yours ▪ Same goes with class novels – each book is checked out to each student with a unique barcode ▪ BE RESPONSIBLE for your VERY expensive textbook. Damage or loss WILL cost you $$$

ID’s ▪ You received your ID at orientation ▪ If you lose your ID, you may purchase another one for $5. 00 ▪ You must carry your ID at all times

Other Media stuff you should know ▪ Copy room is in the back corner room – Mrs. Bennick (Queen of the copy room) ▪ Magazine area with lots of cool magazines

What’s this “Makerspace” stuff? ▪ Area where you can create, invent, collaborate, and problem solve ▪ Area where you can “chill” and relax

What else can we do in the media center? ▪ Play chess – sets available for check out ▪ Board games – Scrabble, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, Scattergories ▪ Playing cards ▪ READ, READ!!!

What are the Florida Teen Reads (FTR)? ▪ High school version of SSYRA ▪ 15 new titles every year ▪ Earn buttons, prizes, and BIG LOVE from me! ▪ You can participate in Battle of the Books (if you want to) ▪ FTR/Battle of the Books club meets every Thursday during “B” lunch
