Structure of the programme • 2 years of studies, 120 HECs (higher education credits) • 45 credits compulsory courses • 45 credits optional courses – Out of which 15 credits may be in some other field (must be approved by Peter Langenius) • 30 credits thesis 02/10/2020 / Adam Jacobsson

About the courses • Courses are mostly taught part-time; students usually take 2 courses in parallel • Each course is 7. 5 credits; one semester is 30 credits • The programme is part of a network of master programs – you will meet students from other programmes 02/10/2020 / Adam Jacobsson

Some advise… • Teaching is very much based on students’ presence at lectures. Even if lectures are mostly voluntarily I strongly recommend you to attend • Lectures often include aspects not provided by the literature • Please be on time at lectures • Economics at the Department is to a large extent applied and requires computer skills (statistical softwares, dealing with data, writing term papers, assignments, and finally thesis) 02/10/2020 / Adam Jacobsson

…some more advice • Make use of computer labs in different courses! • Difficult to catch up if you miss much • You have the right to a supervisor for thesis at the fourth semester only. The supervisor has no obligations except at this semester • This is an “integrated” program. Try to follow the sequence of courses. …finally… • No aides such as calculators, mobile phones etc are allowed on exams (unless otherwise specified)! • Be careful to comply with exam instructions as failing to do so can lead to disciplinary actions. • When writing your thesis, be careful to avoid plagiarism (more about this next year)! 02/10/2020 / Adam Jacobsson
