Welcome to Healthful Living!
What is Healthful Living? • Healthful Living is a combination of health education and physical education. The goal of this class is to teach you the skills and content that will contribute to a healthful lifestyle and improved quality of life for all students.

When do I have PE/Health? • There will be a calendar on the bulletin board that tells you when each teacher has health and pe. • There will also be on your teachers webpage.
PE Weekly Routine Possible routine: • 1 Day – Stick Run • 1 Dance Day • 3 Days-Skill Development / Game
Rules and Procedures • Students are required to dress appropriately for activity on physical education days. • What is appropriate dress? • MCMS physical education uniform only. • Athletic or skate shoes with TIED LACES.

Rules and Procedures • You may only wear sweatshirts, long sleeved T-shirts, or sweatpants when your class goes outside. • All shorts or sweatpants must be worn around your waist.
Rules and Procedures • If you forget your PE uniform and/or shoes you will: • Check-out the appropriate item in the notebook. • Leave your planner as collateral. • At the end of class you will return any items you checked out. • Lose points from your PE grade.
Rules and Procedures • Proper shoes + clothing = Full credit & participation • Proper shoes + no clothing= Half credit & checking out PE items & participation • No shoes + no clothing = ZERO & checking out PE items.
Rules and Procedures • Medical excuses will be accepted; however, be prepared to be given an alternative assignment. Excuse notes signed by a parent/guardian are accepted for 3 days. Extended excuses will require a doctor’s signature. A doctor’s signature will also be required to allow you to return to class at the end of an injury or sickness.
Rules and Procedures • Students will lock all valuables such as jewelry, • • watches, purses, money and or cell phones in their lockers before coming to healthful living class. Do not ask your PE teachers to hold your valuables! WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR BELONGINGS! Do not leave anything in the dressing room during class. Please bring all of your stuff out and place it on the bottom row of the bleachers.
Rules and Procedures • Wearing jewelry during physical education activities is not permitted. It’s a safety thing! Students are responsible for the security of their belongings. • Being in the wooded areas around the athletic fields is prohibited.
Rules and Procedures • Consuming food, candy, or drink is not allowed in class. NO GUM! • The 2 nd time you are caught chewing gum or eating candy you will serve lunch detention.
Rules and Procedures • Students must stay off the stage area and bleachers that are not pulled out for use. • The gym is closed after school. Only students involved in extra-curricular activities are allowed in the gym after 3: 00 pm.
Rules and Procedures • Respect equipment. Intentional vandalism will result in disciplinary action and the student responsible will pay for repair or replacement. • Students must report all accidents immediately to a teacher so injuries can be treated and accident reports completed.

PBi. S • We participate in the school wide PBi. S model. • Be respectful, responsible, safe, and an active • • listener. You can earn the opportunity to participate in school wide PBi. S celebrations if you do what is expected of you. In PE if you dress and participate 100% you will earn a reward.
Sticker Chart • Each class can earn a possible 2 stickers each class period. • 1 sticker for the whole class being dressed out in their own clothes. • 1 sticker for the whole class sitting in squad lines immediately after getting dressed. • 25 stickers earns the class a “Free Day”!
Not following the rules will result in: • • • 1 st = Warning and documentation. 2 nd = Bounce to a new seat or time out in gym. 3 rd = Bounce from the room and parent contact.
Severe Clause: Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (including the property of the teacher and other students), or is strongly disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be IMMEDIATELY bounced to another room or office.
PBi. S Rewards • If you earn all of your points you will become eligible for school wide celebrations. • If you are not prepared for class you lose a PBi. S ticket. • If we have to speak to you about your behavior you will lose a ticket.
Entering the Gym: • • Please enter quietly. Place your belongings on the first row of bleachers. Proceed to bathrooms, change into your PE uniform, put clothes back on bleachers, and sit in your assigned spot. You will have 8 minutes from the 1 st bell to complete this. Example: 9: 56 -10: 04
TARDY • If you are not in the gym when the tardy bell rings your are late. • You will serve lunch detention for being tardy. • If you are late because of a teacher you must have a note signed in your planner.
Bathroom • Go in. Get dressed. Get out! • NO Horseplay! • Leave the showers and lights alone! • Keep it clean. • Do not leave your stuff in the bathrooms!
Squad lines • You must sit in your assigned spot only! • You must be in your spot before the buzzer sounds. • If you are dressed and ready before buzzer sounds go directly to your spot. • Remember by doing this you are helping your class earn a free day!
Getting water/using the bathroom • You have time @ beginning/end • If you must go in-between ask a teacher for permission first. • We will give you time for water after warm -ups.
Getting Your Attention: • I will= – Say “Hear my voice clap once”. – Wait for everyone to follow. – In general if you hear a whistle that means stop what you are doing, freeze, and be an active listener.
OTHER • Planners and ticket sheets(6 th)-bring everyday • Uniforms-Those of you that ordered we will pass them out when they arrive in class. If you would like to purchase one see your teacher. • Enter and Exit using the right side door. • BE POLITE. HOLD THE DOOR FOR THE PERSON BEHIND YOU!
