INFATUATION OR LOVE? ? ? Healthful Living B. Gunderson
WHAT DOES INFATUATION MEAN? How would you act if you were infatuated?
“SYMPTOMS” OF INFATUATION ARE… ⦿Panic ⦿Uncertainty ⦿overpowering lust ⦿feverish excitement ⦿impatience ⦿jealousy ⦿unhappy ⦿suspicious ⦿miserable when they are away ⦿difficult to concentrate ⦿not complete unless with them ⦿doubt relationship ⦿incomplete unless sexual encounter 3
WHAT DOES THE TEXT SUGGEST ABOUT INFATUATION BEING BIOLOGICAL? ⦿when infatuated we get surges of ⦿Dopamine= feel good ⦿Norepinephrine= adrenaline ⦿Phenylethalimine=bliss ⦿Oxytocin=emotional attachment & sexual arousal. ⦿Together these brain chemicals override the brain activity that provokes logic. ⦿We build a “tolerance” to these chemicals so it takes more to feel the intoxicating effects. 4
