English This course allows learners to: 4 develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively when speaking and writing 4 learn how to use a wide range of vocabulary, and the correct grammar, spelling and punctuation 4 develop a personal style and an awareness of the audience being addressed 4 read widely, both for their own enjoyment and to further their awareness of the ways in which English can be used 4 develop more general analysis and communication skills such as synthesis, inference, and the ability to order facts and present opinions effectively

History 9 th – IGCSE History 419 th and 20 th Century World History 4 Depth Study: Russia th 10 – AS Level Global Perspectives Learners provided opportunities to acquire, develop, and apply skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication, and collaboration.

Mathematics 4 Sequence 1 – IGCSE Mathematics with a focus on Geometry; will start AS Mathematics in the 10 th grade 4 Sequence 2 – AS Mathematics: a rigorous integrated program including Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Math Analysis and Calculus

Science 9 th-IGCSE Combined Science 4 Provides learners the opportunity to study biology and chemistry within a scientifically coherent syllabus. 4 Emphasis is made to the relevance of the concepts studied to everyday life, and to the natural and man-made worlds. 10 th - IGCSE Physics 4 Conceptual development of topics including mechanical, thermal, and atomic physics, properties of waves (light and sound), electricity, and magnetism.

World Language French, Japanese, or Spanish Development of language and cultural fluency by understanding and responding to spoken and written language.

The Application Process Before Lottery – 4 Read the Cambridge documents and review the Cambridge Student Profile to determine if the Cambridge AICE Program is a “fit” for you 4 Commit to preparation needed to enroll in either IGCSE Mathematics or Mathematics – Year 1 4 Complete the LWSD High School Choice School Application for Cambridge Program and submit it online by Friday, December 13, 2019 at 4: 00 p. m.

The Application Process After the Choice School Lottery – 4 Participate in student/parent group conference with Cambridge representatives (week of January 20 th) 4 Read all Cambridge documents provided at information night (also posted on website) 4 Final acceptance due by email to mlewis@lwsd. org by Monday, January 27 th at 4: 00 pm. (Acceptance results in removal from other LWSD wait lists. )
