Work Package Analysis (WPA) • The Installation Work Package was introduced at CERN in 2003 for the LHC Project (LHC-PM-QA 202). The documents are attached to the LHC Hardware Baseline with the following name structure: LHC - _ _ _ - IW - _ _ _ • After the LHC Project (Installation phase), the process remained in place during LS 1 for LHC dedicated work packages such as (SMAC, R 2 E, LSS, Survey, etc…). The «Installation Work Package» then became known as a «Work Package Analysis» • As announced in January (Chamonix 2018), for LS 2, the Work Package Analysis shall now be done both for the LHC and the Injectors. 9/30/2020

Work Package Analysis (WPA) • WPA document focuses more on safety, coordination and the logistical sides of a work package not detailed in an ECR and aims to encourage collaboration, resource allocation and competences between groups. • WPA is designed to be a working document that will remain active and applicable throughout the work package life cycle. In addition to the general organisation of the activities. the WPA should identify any special services, training needs and in particular, on site supervision resources and the necessary follow up needed to respect the master planning. 9/30/2020

WPA - Reconfiguration of the injection and extraction lines 12 th June 2018 Feedback & follow up. • EN-CV to confirm • The removal of the remaining redundant heating system partially removed above the BTM line during YETS 2017 -2018. • Consolidation and upgrade program of the PSB cooling plant. Flanges, flexibles and instrumentation in proximity or located beneath major beam line infrastructure may need changing due to the increase in water pressure. • RF Finemet water cooling pipe installation would involve hot working such as cutting, grinding, welding and Xrays. No co-activities possible. . Planning to be provided/agreed. • TE-MSC announced the late delivery of the BTM. BHZ 10 which may not be available until June/July 2019. . Will need to keep clear transport paths etc. . • BE-BI announced that the BI. BTV 40 is to be consolidated. ECR? Integration? • RP-HSE • Radioactive storage issues still to resolve. • Transport and classification of radioactive materials requests. • Study the construction (with shielding blocks) of a temporary delimitation zone in the PSB basement to store removed radioactive beam infrastructure. • Protect with shielding blocks the SMH 15 L 1 (which will not be removed)? • SMB-SE. Due to effects of paint fumes, painting campaign can only be done once the vacuum system is fully closed. • PSB-LIU must decide quickly on the shielding wall issues located between the PSB and the PS switchyard. 9/30/2020

Conclusion • As announced in January (Chamonix 2018), the WPA process is starting in LHC and Injectors • The scope is to finalise collaboratively the preparation phase of the LS 2: • Focusing on coordination, logistics and worksite safety aspects • Mitigate the risk of co-activities and propose compensatory measures. • This is a win exercise for the Groups and for the General coordination: • Groups: validate their requirements wrt safety, services, support needed from other groups and scheduling aspects. • General coordination: finalize the LS 2 schedule and preparation wrt to safely managing co-activities, general worksite safety, constraints and logistics. • WPA has been useful and has already identified many unidentified issues in the areas mentioned above. 9/30/2020
