Paramount Adaptive Riding Center began operating in EXECUTIVE SUMMARY April of 2020. Paramount provides adaptive riding lessons to allow students of all abilities to benefit from therapeutic nature of horses. Lessons are taught by PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructors and include both mounted and unmounted activities. No other such services exist in Nassau County, which has a population of over 80, 000. Paramount ARC was granted nonprofit 501 c 3 status in January of 2020. Paramount ARC currently operates out of a facility it does not own. Our goal is to create a permanent home in Nassau County so that Paramount can continue to thrive for years to come.

Paramount ARC provides adaptive riding lessons for children and adults with and without special needs. COMPANY DESCRIPTION There are many benefits of therapeutic riding, including but not limited to increased core strength, improved motor skills (both fine and gross), increased social skills and awareness, positive sensory stimulation, and increased confidence. As the program continues to grow and develop, our goal is to offer programs for veterans, active duty military, and military families at a minimal or no cost to participants. We would also like to expand offerings to include education outreach in the community and develop programming to reach at risk youth. Lessons currently operate out of Prince Equestrian, which is located in Hilliard, an easy to reach area from all of Nassau County, and still close enough to pull clients from the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Executive Director and Instructor, Krista Jurkovich, has over a decade of experience in therapeutic riding arena, and has had the benefit of working in two different programs that were both started from the ground up. Between April 2020 and December 2020, Paramount ARC conducted almost 500 riding lessons with 77 participants.

Nassau County’s estimated population from July 2018 was 85, 832. In the past

Nassau County’s estimated population from July 2018 was 85, 832. In the past 8 years alone, Nassau County’s population has risen over 17%. MARKET ANALYSIS As the general population in Nassau County has risen, so has the number of individuals who have special needs. In Nassau County schools, 13. 5% of students have documented disabilities. In addition, 50. 6% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch, and 23. 5% of students are considered chronically absent. Looking more widely, 10. 8% of the general population under the age of 65 in Nassau County has a disability. Paramount ARC is the only opportunity within an hour radius of our current location where therapeutic riding services are being offered by PATH certified individuals. Therapeutic riding has shown tremendously positive response from those who have served our country as well, and in a community centrally located between 3 major Navy installations with almost 9, 000 veterans, a program that is willing to open its doors to our nation’s heroes and their families has enormous potential. In its first year, Paramount has been able to cover all of our expenses through fundraising and revenue. We have been able to purchase 3 program horses, provide outstanding care, and own and maintain our own tack.

ORGANIZATION & MANAGEMENT Paramount ARC is a registered nonprofit business (501 c 3)

ORGANIZATION & MANAGEMENT Paramount ARC is a registered nonprofit business (501 c 3) governed by a 3 member board, with plans to expand our board to 5 members in 2021. Board members are appointed to yearly terms. Board members oversee finances, participate in designing and executing fundraising opportunities, and provide general direction to the continued development of Paramount and its programming. The Executive Director, Krista Jurkovich, oversees daily operations and makes decisions related to horse care & well-being, programming decisions, and general purchases (including but not limited to, appropriate insurance coverage, appropriate equines, & appropriate tack/adaptive riding equipment). Instructors will be responsible for safety (of both volunteers, participants, and equines), lesson planning, and keeping organized records of student progress and relevant equine management information

The first and foremost service provided by Paramount SERVICES PROVIDED & CLIENT BENEFITS

The first and foremost service provided by Paramount SERVICES PROVIDED & CLIENT BENEFITS ARC will continue to be therapeutic riding lessons. It is important to note that these lessons are not considered therapy from a medical perspective and cannot and will not be medically billed as such. PATH instructors are specifically trained to teach those with special needs to ride horses safely. This experience is naturally therapeutic in nature and can support many goals that may be included in an individual’s IEP, 504, or transitional plan. There are many benefits to therapeutic riding, including increased core strength, increased motor skills (both fine and gross), positive physical feedback, and increased confidence and motivation. In addition, therapeutic equine activities have been shown to increase the mental health and well-being of veterans, specifically those who are having difficulty with PTSD. Opportunities also exist to enrich the lives of community members through volunteer work and education.

MARKETING & SALES Traditionally, therapeutic riding centers market primarily through word of mouth.

MARKETING & SALES Traditionally, therapeutic riding centers market primarily through word of mouth. We currently have an audience of 278 “likes” and 293 “follows” on our Facebook page At this point, we have more potential clients than lesson horses and available time slots Lessons are currently paid on the day of the lesson. Our goal is to transition to a monthly billing cycle to better enforce our cancellation policies, but that has been difficult due to covid. While lessons are billed, we hope in the future our primary budget will come from grants and fundraising. In 2020, we served 77 individuals in over 500 lessons beginning in April. Our program has tremendous potential to make a lasting impact on lives in Nassau County.

Ideally in the first few years, money from fundraising FINANCIAL METRICS will cover

Ideally in the first few years, money from fundraising FINANCIAL METRICS will cover the expenses of operating the program. In our first year, we received $3, 239 in donations. The majority of our income ($18, 822) came from lesson fees. Lessons are charged at a rate of $45 for a private 1 hour lesson, which will include both mounted and unmounted activities. As the program grows, group lessons will provide opportunity to generate more income and support adding equines to the program. Group lessons have been limited due to the number of equines and Covid precautions. Instructor has agreed to volunteer until program expenses are covered by income. Currently, about half our lessons are taught on horses leased to us from Prince Equestrian, which means we share 50% of our lesson fees in exchange for using the horse in a lesson.

Group lessons offer the greatest income potential FINANCIAL GOALS Offering group lessons

Group lessons offer the greatest income potential FINANCIAL GOALS Offering group lessons requires multiple equines- for our program to run at full capacity, we will likely need 5 -6 horses of our own (we currently own 3, so we need to invest another approximately $8, 000 to purchase quality lesson horses) Owning and operating out of our own property will greatly reduce our overhead in the long-term, making our program more sustainable Almost half our expenses for 2020 were board and horse lease costs Building out our ideal property will take approximately one year, this means we must be able to support current programming expenses with the first year’s loan payments already in the bank ($30, 000) Additional income once we have our own property could come from boarding- $450 -$650 per horse in this area
