§ School starts at 8: 50 am and ends at 4: 10 pm every day. § The doors will open at 7: 45 am and breakfast is available at 8: 10 am. § Students MUST wear an ID every single day. ($3 for a replacement) § Lunch for a 6 th grader is after 5 th period. Most days, that will be at 1: 16 pm and last 30 minutes. (Pep-rally schedule is different) § Car-rider pick up and drop off in front. § Busses pick up and drop off in the back behind the school. § Semester Exams: Before the Holiday break and the last week of school. § Semester Exams CANNOT be taken early and you will be required to make them up before you can receive a semester grade.

§ Attend Pep Rallies § Attend school dances, after school sporting events and programs § Attend field trips § Student Council § PTSA - Parent Teacher Student Association § Participate in UIL events § Participate on a Destination Imagination team § Participate in Clubs -27 § Participate in FCA: Fellowship of Christian Athletes

§ Every student will be issued a Chromebook § The insurance is a one-time premium. § Deductible is also $50 for extensive damage due to the following losses. § Covered Losses – one device: § § § Accidental damage Theft Fire Flood Natural Disasters Vandalism

§ Teachers will have most of their resources, upcoming dates, and contact information on their Moodle Course § Parents can view the site because of open “Guest Access” however students must be enrolled to be able to participate in activities and submit assignments (enrollment will be shared with students once school starts) § Moodle Tutorial § Homework, reviews, class activities, forums, journals, etc. will be found on the Teachers Moodle § Miss class… check Moodle!

§ 2 Math § 1 ELA § 1 Science § 1 Social Studies § 1 P. E. (All 6 th graders take P. E. ) § 1 Fine Art Elective (Band, Choir, or Orchestra) § 1 other elective which could include a second fine art: Band, Choir, Orchestra, Art, Intro. to Theater, Technology Apps *** Each class is 45 minutes *** 4 minutes for passing period

§ Complete your summer reading before school starts. § If you haven’t read your book yet, please check with your LA teacher before you leave tonight. § Pre-AP and GT students will have weekly vocabulary lessons with possible summatives to follow after every three units. This is OUTSIDE of class work.

§ Options: 6 th grade on-level, 6 th grade pre-ap, and 6 th grade GT math. § 6 th grade Pre-Ap and GT math taks the 6 th grade STAAR test at the end of the year. They will complete all of 6 th and most of 7 th grade math in 1 year. § Mathia X Software will accompany instruction providing extra guided practice.

§ All 6 th graders take PE § 45 minute class period every day § PE uniforms- $20 and can be purchased the first week of school. Success in middle school involves much more that just good grades! § Keep up with your ID and wear it EVERY day § Stay organized § Take care of your device § Keep your device charged for use in the classroom § Attend tutorials § Check your school email § Check grades

§ Access school website and teacher Moodle pages § Moodle is like a window into the classroom! § Check and make sure your email address is current and updated § Access child’s grades online § Parent/Teacher conferences § Provide limits and guidance at home to help your child be a success at school § Work at helping your child develop a system of organization

§ Hallways § Parents and students, practice walking on the right side of the hallway and watch out for doors opening § Tardies § Students will be given a “free pass” for tardies the first week. After that, there will be consequences for being late several times in a 6 weeks. Practice quickly getting from class to class. Only stop by your locker 1 -3 times per day § Grades § Students are ultimately responsible for their work and coming in for tutorials
