WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT? Dual Enrollment allows eligible high school students to take college

WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT? Dual Enrollment allows eligible high school students to take college courses and earn both high school college credit for the same course. Dual Enrollment is a state mandated program and is governed by F. S. 1007. 271 and the Florida Department of Education Office of Articulation

TYPES OF DUAL ENROLLMENT? Regular Dual Enrollment Students take up to three college classes

TYPES OF DUAL ENROLLMENT? Regular Dual Enrollment Students take up to three college classes per semester either at the college or on their high school campus. Early Admission High school seniors enroll in 12 -15 credits at the college and do not take any classes at the high school (for public school students only).

Collegiate High School There are two Collegiate high schools. • Lake Howell High School – Business Focus • Crooms Academy – Technology Focus Public school students can take classes at the high school, online, and at the college to complete their AA degree by the time they graduate from high school.

WHAT DEGREES ARE OFFERED? ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DEGREE (A. A. ) (Academic D. E.

WHAT DEGREES ARE OFFERED? ASSOCIATE OF ARTS DEGREE (A. A. ) (Academic D. E. ) The General Education portion of a bachelor’s degree. The degree consists of 36 credits of general education and 24 elective credits. Electives are used for University prerequisites. ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE (A. S. ) (Career D. E. ) Courses are mostly in a specialization area (example: computers, business, criminal justice, etc. ). Some General Education courses are included. Not designed for students to transfer to a university. Certificate Programs (Career D. E. ) Usually one year and can be vocational or college credit. Meant for students who want to get a skill and then get a job. Some examples are Accounting Applications, Automotive repair, Digital Media, etc.

Who can Dual Enroll? § Students in Public, Private or Home School § Students

If you attend a Private School you can only take classes with Seminole State if you are from a private school located in Seminole County that has an agreement with Seminole State College. PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS

F. S. 1007. 271(3)

How can I Dual Enroll? Public/Private School • Have your high school counselor enter

How can I Dual Enroll? Public/Private School • Have your high school counselor enter the GPA on the dual enrollment form and initial beside it. • Complete the dual enrollment application. • Bring the application to your closest Seminole State Campus or send to dualenrollment@seminolestate. edu The student will be admitted and given a Seminole State College ID number. • Create your My. Seminole. State Account.

 • If you have SAT/ACT test scores have them sent to Seminole State

• If you have SAT/ACT test scores have them sent to Seminole State College. • If you do not have test scores you will take the P. E. R. T. • Public school students complete the 868 form (found on the Seminole County Public Schools website). It needs to be signed by your counselor and principal. • Private school students complete the 869 form with your high school counselor. • Bring your 868/869 form to campus and complete an SCC registration form or send to dual enrollment email • The Student Services are will register you for classes.

IMPACT ON EDUCATIONAL RECORD • Courses are part of the student's permanent educational record.

IMPACT ON EDUCATIONAL RECORD • Courses are part of the student's permanent educational record. If a student is not successful in a course, it will not be removed from the college transcript. • Courses are listed on both the high school transcript and college transcript. • Courses are weighted on the high school transcript the same as IB or AP. • Unsuccessful attempts at college classes could impact the students' eligibility for future financial aid.

DROP/WITHDRAW Drop: Dropping a class means the class will NOT appear on your transcript;

DROP/WITHDRAW Drop: Dropping a class means the class will NOT appear on your transcript; has to happen within the first week of classes Withdraw: Withdrawing a class means you will receive a grade of “W” on your transcript; will not impact your GPA but can possibly impact your future financial aid.
