What is Dual Enrollment? • Dual enrollment programs provide opportunities for FCS high school students to take college-level courses and earn concurrent credit toward a high school diploma and a college degree while still in high school.

Dual Enrollment Eligibility • Any student who is enrolled in high school who is accepted by a state public or private postsecondary institution • Typically begin dual enrollment coursework in junior or senior year of high school • Students in grades 9 and 10 may participate if they meet specific eligibility requirements established by the funding source. • Courses taken must be from approved DOE list • Can be taken on college campus, online, or at high school depending on the type of dual enrollment • Can be taken before, during, or after regular school hours • Enrolled full-time or part-time • Quality Points Added to GPA – 5 points = 90 - 100 – 4 points = 80 - 89 – 3 points = 70 - 79

Benefits for Students • Provides opportunity for qualified high school students to take college-level courses • Awards both high school and college credit • Enriches the course opportunities for outstanding high school students • Eases the transition from high school to college exposing students to the expectation and rigor of postsecondary education • Motivates students to follow through to a postsecondary education as they become familiar to campus life and college responsibilities • Credit hours earned do not count against HOPE cape for funds

Types of Dual Enrollment • • ACCEL Dual HOPE Grant Move On When Ready Articulated Credit Early College Gateway to College Residential Programs *Indicator on CCRPI (Post-High School Readiness): Percent of graduates earning high school credit(s) for accelerated enrollment via ACCEL, Dual Hope Grant, Move On When Ready, Early College, Gateway to College, AP Courses, or IB Courses

Common Student Options • Career-Related Dual Enrollment (HOPE Grant): a non-need based grant program for students seeking technical certificates or diplomas from the Technical College System of Georgia’s institutions. – Local Option: Lanier Technical College (Dawson or Forsyth) in areas such as welding, nurse assistant, printing and graphics, criminal justice, etc. • Academic Dual Enrollment (ACCEL): a non-need based program offered for students that wish to take college level (academic-only, degree-level) coursework for credit toward both high school and college graduation requirements. – Local Options: University of North Georgia and Lanier Technical College

MOU with LTC • • All decisions will be guided by what is in the best interest of the student. Parents, high schools, and Lanier Technical College (LTC) make an investment in and share the cost of the dual enrollment opportunity. Student/parents are responsible for other mandatory or optional items such as malpractice insurance, scrubs, stethoscope, welding helmet, etc. Secondary school systems will provide the CTAE books for the students. Costs will vary by the book and number of students enrolled. If a student qualifies for Hope Grant, Lanier Technical College commits to exempting all tuition, not covered by HOPE, and fees with the exception of a one-time application fee of $15. 00 per student. LTC commits to using the same textbook for a minimum of five years. The high school will order the books and use its local policy in the issuing of the books. All stakeholders may send textbook suggestions to Jeff Fitzpatrick, High School Coordinator, and he will discuss these issues with Dr. Barrow and Dr. Tolleson depending on the campus where the dual enrollment student is registered. The college will always make sure the student’s best interest is considered when adopting books. All parties will work toward LTC offering classes as needed on high school campuses. Jeff Fitzpatrick will be the contact to discuss and request classes held on the high school campus.
