CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF RILM • RILM Child Development program is called - “Asha Kiran…. a ray of hope” Objective of ‘Asha Kiran… a ray of hope’ is: a. to ensure out-of-school children go through “special training classes” (age appropriate and class appropriate) at Asha Kiran Centres (AKCs) , and b. these out-of-school children are enrolled in ageappropriate classes in State funded schools • Asha Kiran is implemented by RILM shortlisted NGOs

WHO ARE THE ASHA KIRAN CHILDREN? Age Criteria: Children in the age group of 7 to 14 years Educational/Enrolment status: � • Children who have never been to school • Children who are not attending school but enrolled, irregular or absent for more than 45 days without any information to school • Children who are laggard in comparison to his/her age and class.

ASHA KIRAN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS 1. Proposals invited from NGOs 2. Finalisation of NGOs, who will implement the project at the grass-root level. 3. Identification and Approval of children through Child Screening process. 4. Enrolment for special training classes at Asha Kiran Centre for 6 -9 months.

ASHA KIRAN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS 5. Motivation of children at the centres to attend classes at Asha Kiran centres regularly. 6. Community mobilization of the parents and other stakeholders to send the children to school regularly 7. Mainstreaming in govt. schools when children attain appropriate learning levels 8. Follow up monitoring to ensure regular attendance in schools.

ROLE OF CLUBS IN ASHA KIRAN A Club can : • Sponsor each Asha Kiran @Rs. 2500/- and get tagged with sponsored Asha Kiran Children on RILM website • Support RILM in finding NGOs for Asha Kiran • Participate in the Child Screening process • Visit NGO run Asha Kiran Centre periodically. Give feedback to RILM

PROCESS TO MAKE DONATIONS 1. Bank payments (cheque , DD, NEFT, RTGS, online) only. 2. 80 G exemption against donations by Bank payments only. 3. Account Name: RSAS A/c Literacy Mission 4. Please do not collect the child sponsorship amount of Rs. 2500/- per child in cash
