Random letters and marks 2. Initial Sounds 3. Final Sounds 4. Middle Sounds (bubble gum stretch) 5. Applying spelling patterns (If I can spell can, I can spell man) 6. Letterland } Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling

Letterland } Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling to 3 -8 year olds. The Letterland characters transform plain black letter shapes into childfriendly pictograms and they all live in an imaginary place called Letterland. } Simple stories about the Letterland characters, explain the full range of dry phonics facts so that children are motivated to listen, to think and to learn. These stories explain letter sounds & shapes, allowing children to progress quickly to word building, reading and writing. } Letterland Night will be on October 2, 2014 @ 6: 15 -7: 15 Please join us for a more in depth explanation of the program! School and Classroom Policies } Illness: ¡ Children MUST be symptom* free for 24 hours before returning to school ¡ A note with reason, date, and signature is required ¡ Please refer to the WCPSS handbook and/or website to see the policy for excused and unexcused absences. *Symptoms include: fever, diarrhea, vomiting; pink-eye and rash } Early Pick Up From School ¡ Please send a note in advance if your child is to be picked up early } Volunteering at School and on Field Trips ¡ Begins in October (teacher will contact you) } ¡ A scheduled time is required in order to maximize instructional time ¡ WCPSS volunteer registration is required Lunch ¡ Please set up a lunch account ahead of time ¡ Accounts allow for child to purchase lunch and snack (Fridays only) ¡ Please put your child’s lunch money in an envelope and place it inside your child’s daily folder. Loose money can get lost and it can not be deposited if it is in your child’s backpack. The TA’s will happily deposit money for your child if you would like to send it in weekly. Daily/Friday Folders and Weekly Reports Daily Folders } It is a tool for 2 -way home school communication } Please keep intact and away from “danger” ¡ ¡ Dinner Younger siblings Drinks Pets } Comes to and from school daily Monday-Thursday } Use this as a place to write quick questions Friday Folders } Friday Folders: Mainly for School-Wide Information } They will go home on the last school day of the week if school is closed on a Friday. Weekly Reports } Weekly Reports are sent home with Friday Folders they are a quick reflection of your child’s behavior for the week. 1/19/2022
