PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUE 5: Emotive Language Like many persuasive techniques, emotive appeals aim to engage people’s feelings, not logic or reason. If a writer can manipulate a reader to feel a certain way, that reader should be more likely to agree with the writer’s overall argument. These poor, helpless children are forced to do hours of homework every night after long, hard days at school.

PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUE 7: Facts, Statistics and Expert Opinions Using facts, statistics or an expert or important person’s opinion to make your argument seem more convincing. 95% of students agree that homework should be banned. Scientists say that failing to wear a hat increases the risk of skin cancer.

PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUE 8 Inclusive language This is writing that directly addresses the reader, either personally or as a member of a shared group. It involves personal pronouns – words like, us, we, you, our. Our world is at stake. If we don’t do something soon, we may lose some of the most incredible animals in the world due to global warming.
