What is persuasion? n. Generally an appeal to emotion, not intellect. n. An attempt to change your behavior n. It attempts to “guide your choice”

Loaded words or Glittering Generalities Definition: Words that sound attractive or catchy, but really don’t mean anything. These are just: logical fallacies What’s a fallacy you ask? a deceptive, misleading, or false notion or belief Based on the words used to sell, the customer thinks they are getting something better than what it really might be.
Loaded Words or Glittering Generalities - Use attractive, but vague words that make speeches and other communications sound good, but in practice say nothing in - particular. - Use words that appeal to values, which often themselves are related to triggering of powerful emotions. - intangible nouns that embody ideals, such as dignity, freedom, fame, integrity, justice, love and respect Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with the greatest pleasure that I welcome you to this most auspicious of occasions. Name Calling or stereotyping
Snob Appeal • aims to flatter • Makes insinuation that this product is better than others. • “avant garde” ahead of the times. The ultimate driving machine Lexus sports car
• - Plain Folks Makes the leaders look like Plain folks (mom and pop style). a convincing method to show they are just common people. Opposite of snob appeal
