Dear distinguished guests, honorary speakers, ladies and gentlemen On behalf the President of the Asian Health Literacy Association, Professor Tom Shih, I would like to present a short opening remarks on this occasion. It has been a great pleasure to have the global health literacy community meet in Geneva today, on the special occasion concurrently with the 68 th World Health Assembly. It is also of special honor for the Asian Health Literacy Association to coordinate and co-organize such a unique event with many influential institutions, including the Europe Health Literacy, the Global Health Institution in University of Geneva, the University of Maastricht, the long-time partner of the AHLA International Center for Migrant Health and Development, the World Federation Academy Institutions for Global Health, WFAIGH, International Union for Health Education and Promotion (IUHPE), and et al. Professor Antoine Flahault is particularly appreciated for his commitment and support for this event. Particularly at the era of Ebola pandemic and many other health threats surrounding us, the global community is expected to enhance more understanding, more rigorous researches, and more implementation on literacy for the public and the community, through the media, by the policy makers and organizations for health and social care, and particularly on us the public health professionals. Look forward to welcome you in Taiwan in the 3 rd Asian Health Literacy Conference in this coming November. And I wish you have a great and fruitful meeting today.
